The Bears stayed hot, picking up their second commitment of the weekend and their eighth in the last week and a half, adding Westlake High School 4 star WR Demare Dezeurn‍.

“Really, the coaches, they believe in me and I love that,” the newest Bear receiver said. “And also, half of the coaches have coached in the NFL or have been around the NFL and thats my main goal, so why not get developed by the best?”

The 5-11/170 Dezeurn‍ had a stellar junior season at Palisades High School, hauling in 37 catches for 64 catches for 1372 yards and 21 TDs along with an 18-yard rushing TD in his Western League MVP season.

As a soph, the 4 star WR had 20 catches for 451 yards and 5 touchdowns and added three more TDs on kick/punt returns and had 8 tackles and 1 interception at corner in just 7 games.

The consensus 4 star receiver was committed to Oklahoma but opted to decommit and take an official visit with new teammate and Cal commit Charles Davis III‍ after his transfer from Palisades. One of the fastest receivers in the country (10.3 100), Dezeurn also holds offers from Alabama, USC, UCLA, Tennessee, Texas and more.

Dezuern becomes the 18th commit of the Bears’ 2027 class, joining 4 star QB commit Dane Weber‍, WRs Charles Davis III‍ (Westlake) and Blake Gunter‍ (Southlake, TX), RBs Jaxsen Stokes‍ (Sierra Canyon) and AJ Antwon Sanders‍ (CE King/Houston), TE Rahzario Edwards‍, OTs Amaziah Siale‍ (Mission Viejo) and Josh Bunni‍ Josh Bunni‍ (Cardinal Newman), DLs Troy Bowens‍ (Sutter), Jaderian Jones‍ (Dallas) and Miles Schirmer‍ (Corona Centennial), edge Giovanni Hodge‍ (Grant Union), LBs Elyjah Staples‍ (Marquez-Huntington Beach)‍ and Gunnar Perry‍ (Notre Dame Prep/Scottsdale, AZ), CB Duvay Williams‍ (Junipero Serra), safety Myles Baker‍ (Sierra Canyon) and IMG Academy kicker Zach Brien‍.

Huge get and congratulations! You made an excellent choice, when Oklahoma is up, it's like "Again?" But Cal's ascent will be the stuff of dreams and movies. To all remaining recruits, come be a part of history. This is going to be more special than anything you've ever imagined.

This guy gives me big DeSean Jackson feels. Straight burner who looks to be effortless in his speed and moves. He has elite speed - ran a 10.32/21.04 in his soph year, and a 10.39/21.12(not wind legal) this year. Looks to me that he wasn't competing much in track this year; only ran in a few meets compared to last year, and not much 200m exposure (and no 400m times compared to last year, which is a shame).

Speaking of DJAX, one thing about him that was either underrated or not mentioned enough was how tough he was for such a small guy. He took some major shots, but was very durable as I recall - I don't remember him missing too many games other than the BG in 2007. Obviously if this kid can live up to that kind of potential it's a huge win.

Wow, just wow. So he obviously was the fastest person on the field in lots of those. Pretty common in those that he completely outran his defender, the pass was underthrown, and not only was he able to slow down and make the catch, but was able to still gain yards after. And then on lots of plays where they threw to him in shorter routes, he was really elusive. Similarly on those kick returns, he seemed to be in the middle of traffic and then come free, always moving the ball to the safer hand in the process.

Flashes of that 10.3x speed in the HL vid above at 2:25-30, 3:00-05, 3:16-23, 3:31-37, 5:22-27, 6:19-24. He also shows good vision, anticipation, reaction, hands in securing INTs, then getting YACs w/ elusiveness & speed; a top candidate for punt/kick returner.

Just blazing speed, great hands and leaping ability, great run after the catch. Wish he was coming in this Fall. Sagapolutele throwing to him will be a thing of beauty.

Palisades was new WR coach Geoff MacArthur's alma mater as well. Maybe even also Western League MVP? (MacArthur lead the country in receiving as a senior).

With his elite speed, his nickname should be Demare "DeZoom".

Not at all. If you go to the reddit thread that's what a lot of people said.

Nah, I think it plays into the effect where if the beginning and end letters of words are the same that humans end up generally being able to still read sentences even if the letters are jumbled up. E.g. "...if the bninegnig and end lteres of wrdos are the smae taht hnmuas end up ganelerly bineg albe to siltl raed snenteecs..."

In this case I think it just ends up causing many people to take a mental shortcut and read it as Demar DeRozen at first glance since they're more familiar with that name even though it's not the exact same letters, probably rearranging Dezeurn into DeRuzen in their heads of something. it's just an extra 'e' in his first name and a 'u' instead of an 'o' in his last name after all.
