Cal celebrates 35 years since its dominate victory over Clemson, 37-13, in the Citrus Bowl in January 1992. The Bears finished in the Top 10. How does Cal Athletics remember this victory when the Tigers visit Berkeley in September? I can think of a few ways.
- Conduct a weeklong tribute via radio, TV and social media
- Invite the team back and honor them at halftime
- Sell Gameday T-shirts blending the Cal brand, the Citrus Bowl game logo, and final score
- Play Citrus Bowl game highlights during the game
- Share highlights of the season and the players who finished with All American, All Pac 10 and Cal Hall of Fame honors
- Present game day interviews with key players, Mike Pawlawski, Troy Auzenne, Russell White, Bryan Treggs, Todd Steussie and a remembrance of Sean Dawkins.
Bears Honoring 1991 Citrus Bowl Team
On3 announced its Top 10 ACC QBs for 2026 this week. JKS is #2.
By comparison, Athlon rated him fourth team. He received no mention from Lindy’s, Phil Steele and CollegeFantasyFootball Lists. BI will be watching this season…and ready with receipts.
The Big 12 announced a multi-placed patch deal with Monster Energy this week worth $20M/year. Some say the value is below market, but Big 12 teams can pursue and sign individual patch deals making the conference patch revenue additive.
Other P4 teams recently announced revenue raising projects. Clemson has Clemson Ventures, Rutgers has Scarlet Knight Enterprises and LSU has the Tiger Athletic Foundation. Creating the infrastructure in-house for greater revenue and cultural impact, and changing the future of college sports, seems to be at the top of every AD’s mind.
