“I would compare those teams to some scholastic college prep teams,” he said. "Honestly, those are some really good programs. Most kids that are playing on the national team out there play on top clubs.”
Benjamin and his Latvian teammates also came away with the FIBA U16 EuroBasket Championship, while he garnered tournament MVP honors and the tournament’s highest player efficiency average in its history.
Berrouet does not present himself as a prospect satisfied by rankings or offers. That mindset matters. “I'm a hard worker. I love to play basketball. You’ll never catch me not giving my all, I proved that at EuroBasket,” he said. “I didn't give up even though we were one of the lower teams, I still wanted to win. I love to win. I hate to lose.”
He sees every opportunity as proof that prior work has paid off—and as motivation to do more. Dynamic Prep, where the schedule and daily competition will intensify, Berrouet wants to establish himself among the very best players in his class.

Cal’s pursuit has resonated with Berrouet. The staff’s willingness to travel to Romania to watch him in person made an impression. “I thought it was really special. That really means something that they took time out of their week to come fly all the way out to Romania and come watch me play,” he said. He describes Cal as a competitive program with good coaches and players—a place capable of helping him reach his long-term goals.
Just as importantly, Berrouet says the Bears are in his top five. For a prospect attracting attention from prominent programs across the country, that is a meaningful position—and an opportunity for Cal to build on the relationship.
