Mekari May Be Modest But His Talent Is Not

Patrick Mekari (79 above) plays left tackle on Cal’s offensive line, the most experienced unit the Bears have. And he has been recognized as one of the best in the country.

As a group O-lines are consigned to the grunt work, making sure their teammates playing more glamorous positions have the opportunity for their glory. The backs and ends get the headlines, the guards and tackles get the bruises.

However, ever since Michael Lewis’ book “The Blind Side” was published a few years ago, the left tackle slot has been given a little more recognition.
