I agree. And I don't like Lance either. Quite frankly, I think it was a bad trade. Had they been able to get Wilson, I would have made the deal but Wilson won't be available.....Radical Bear said:

Looks like they are going to pick a QB: likely either Zach Wilson or Justin Fields
Based on their revealed preferences I would bet it is Zach Wilson of BYU.
You sure you know what the Jets are gonna do?71Bear said:Wilson is going #2 to the Jets. It will be Fields or Lance....calumnus said:philbert said:

Yep. Salah is a smart guy. He knows a franchise QB is required to be a Super Bowl contender. After Lawrence, Wilson is the "best of the rest".philbert said:You sure you know what the Jets are gonna do?71Bear said:Wilson is going #2 to the Jets. We'll know in a month.71Bear said:Yep. Salah is a smart guy. He knows a franchise QB is required to be a Super Bowl contender. After Lawrence, Wilson is the "best of the rest".philbert said:You sure you know what the Jets are gonna do?71Bear said:calumnus said:

If this scenario plays out, happens to Darnold?
This may sound ridiculous but I think it is possible. The #3 pick will go up in value, particularly when it is "on the clock". If Wilson is gone at 3, they could very effectively trade it and get at least as much as they gave up today.Big C said:
Maybe, on draft night, right after the 2nd pick, the Niners will trade their #3 pick DOWN, for the #12 pick, say, and some other future draft choices!

The media seems hilariously ignorant about the situation, they think SF is going in blind. Is there any doubt Saleh hasnt been contacted by Lynch or Shanahan about who they they're picking BEFORE SF made that trade? Hell naw. They know what the Jets are doing, and they must really like whoever is still on the table. The question is...who is it?
SF never had any intention of drafting Rodgers. Nolan felt that AR was a bit too cocky for his tastes. Of course, the problem with that is - you WANT a QB who has a high opinion of his skills and isn't afraid to express himself.calumnus said:Efini said:

Supposedly up until a week before the draft in 2005 the Niners thought they would take Aaron Rodgers.
There are still guys having pro days, getting interviewed. The Jets may have a plan now that they will share with the Niners, but it is no guarantee that is what they do a month from now.

They didn't give up too much if they are getting a franchise QB in return. The problem is that their choice will probably be Fields and I don't see him as a franchise guy.OaktownBear said:71Bear said:I agree. And I don't like Lance either. It is an absolutely moronic trade. Following in the footsteps of the Rams. Giving way too much
They didn't trade for a franchise quarterback. They traded for a dice roll. Only a slightly better dice roll than three of the picks they are trading for it. Look at where most of the best QB's were drafted and look at how successful top picks are. Chances are they are giving up a lot of pick value and won't improve the position from what they already have.71Bear said:They didn't give up too much if they are getting a franchise QB in return. IMO you got Lawrence as the sure thing, Wilson and Lance as strong options, and everyone else including Fields as pure gambles.
