Other than offense and defense, we're doing well.
Great showing by special teams!

My question was rhetorical. Our recruiting has been a problem. Now we cannot even hold on to our recruits. If Wilcox can't get it together or if we don't make a change, we will continue to regress.BearSD said:It's recruiting.southseasbear said:And whose fault is that?BearSD said:C'mon. The pass protection is so poor that Garbers' only alternatives, on that play and many others tonight, are (a) take the short completion, or (b) take a sack.dimitrig said:
Garbers tendency to make short completions when we need medium completions is maddening.
You can't throw to your safety valve EVERY TIME.
You want more alternatives, get a better o-line.
I've said it many times on this board, complaining about coaching strategy misses the far larger point that we don't even have the top-to-bottom talent level of UCLA, let alone the level of top 25 teams.

Means a 4-8 season which...sucks.
And two good returns by Remigio.JimSox said:calumnus said:JimSox said:

Actually yes. Fumble recovery by Goode.

When is the last time cal has actually won a game when we really needed a win. Last time I can think of is maybe that win at SC awhile back. We are awful when there are any stakes whatsoever
The big problem with winning the Oregon State game is that it allowed all of the sunshine pumpers in our fanbase to imagine that the wins against Colorado and Stanford meant this team was making progress and you all managed to memory hole the Arizona game that revealed all of the flaws in our program by blaming it on COVID instead of wondering why a 5th year coach doesn't have a 2nd string QB worth a damn that could put points on an AWFUL Arizona team. It is no shock that when we travel to LA (where Cal nearly always shyts the bed) and had to play a team with a pulse that we couldn't just run at will against that the problems with the offensive line and with Garbers would reveal themselves again.
As is always the case, the #1 problem with the Cal football program is the loser fanbase that sets the bar for success so incredibly low. Fix the problems with yourselves first and start demanding more from your chancellor and your athletic director.
On both sides of the ball, they have huge edges in speed, skill, and instinct.jy1988 said:
Too much speed at the skill positions for UCLA. And they know it.
