Too much speed at the skill positions for UCLA. And they know it.

Yogi, you don't know Shyte. This is Cal, not Alabama. We'll never be a football factory. For my mind, Wilcox is a good fit. You think the Lou Sabans would coach here?
When the defense is concentrating on stopping the run, and dares you to beat them by throwing the ball, the OL looks even worse than they are. The times where Garbers isn't pressured is when we need to complete passes, but He's already lost his confidence, can't get through his progressions, and stares down the primary receiver. A better QB would make the OL look better!!Golden One said:
We should pull the scholarships of all of our offensive linemen. They totally suck!

Dimitrig, you think UCL:A is as competitive in the classroom as Cal?

When is the last time cal has actually won a game when we really needed a win. Last time I can think of is maybe that win at SC awhile back. We are awful when there are any stakes whatsoever
The big problem with winning the Oregon State game is that it allowed all of the sunshine pumpers in our fanbase to imagine that the wins against Colorado and Stanford meant this team was making progress and you all managed to memory hole the Arizona game that revealed all of the flaws in our program by blaming it on COVID instead of wondering why a 5th year coach doesn't have a 2nd string QB worth a damn that could put points on an AWFUL Arizona team. It is no shock that when we travel to LA (where Cal nearly always shyts the bed) and had to play a team with a pulse that we couldn't just run at will against that the problems with the offensive line and with Garbers would reveal themselves again.
As is always the case, the #1 problem with the Cal football program is the loser fanbase that sets the bar for success so incredibly low. Fix the problems with yourselves first and start demanding more from your chancellor and your athletic director.
southseasbear said:And whose fault is that?BearSD said:C'mon. The pass protection is so poor that Garbers' only alternatives, on that play and many others tonight, are (a) take the short completion, or (b) take a sack.dimitrig said:
Garbers tendency to make short completions when we need medium completions is maddening.
You can't throw to your safety valve EVERY TIME.
You want more alternatives, get a better o-line.

Btw, when the details of that Knowlton contract are made public people will LTAO.calumnus said:Yogi Knows said:LMFAO. There are only stakes here for morons who think getting 6 wins and a potential slot in a shytty bowl is an achievement.ducky23 said:

But Justin Wilcox is a really nice guy and is in really good shape. Does he practice intermittent fasting?
I hear Knowlton is a nice guy too. Has a great relationship with Christ. Just got an 8 year extension.
Same. 5 consecutive losing Pac-12 seasons, a feat not achieved in the past 100 years…not By Gilby, Holmoe, Kapp, nada. *Shakes fist* "Damn you Berkeley health dept!"JimSox said:

Bullied on both sides of the ball. Offense looked like crap, but what else is new. The defensive ineptitude is surprising, though. If we can't compete on D, what is Wilcox even doing here? If U Dub is seriously considering him, it might be a blessing in disguise for us.

Oddly as much as the defense has wilted in the second half I kind of don't blame them. When the offense puts up 7 legitimate points and only 160 yards in three and a half quarters I imagine it takes the wind out of your sails quite a bit.
I vote to fire Musgrave and give Wilcox one last chance to hire a competent collegiate offensive coordinator. Which I guess requires a one- or two-year extension for Wilcox in order to attract someone, which sounds kind of crummy now that I'm typing it.
Not sure if serious.Jeff said:
Only 10 3 star 2022 recruits, no QB2, issues with depth, team speed, OC and DC ineffective,Cal's inability to pay for a top flight HC….We need to give Wilcox another year to make progress. He needs to stand tough and deliver. There is no other option. He's got the right character. He has made some staff mistakes typical of a first time HC. But he can rectify them.
