Student elections going on this week at the University of California, Davis, include a referendum to make the campus's mascot a cow.

The aim of the so-called MOOvement is not to tamper with the Aggies name that would remain but to change the mascot from Gunrock the Mustang to a cow.

It would be difficult to get rid of Oski.
There was an "Oski" yell BEFORE there was an Oski.

In fact it was probably the first organized cheer at Cal.

It was reported in the Blue And Gold of th 1870's or 1880's that the Oski cheer was raised by the Cal Students in protest of a meeting of the Berkeley City Counsel that was considering voting to make Berkeley a "Dry" town.

For those not in the know: The Oski cheer was intended as a parody of the contemporary college cheers of the East Coast schools.
Especially the "whisky wee wee" portion
