Love that picture of Jack from Big Game. The Axe is in Berkeley to stay and we got the victory at Memorial. 3 out of 4 years now!

major tight end room announcements:

kinda disappointed that the super sleuth readers of the monster didn't ask me yesterday why coach thompson is visiting ben marshall in nashville but the reason is that coach spav has decided not to retain geep chyrst as the tight end coach

aristotle delivered that message to 3.4 gpa cal commit ben marshall who is gonna absolutely love the spav downfield vertical sets that flex out tall receivers with length into height mismatches

what else is going on in berkeley?

keleki latu is gonna enter the portal with a likely eye upon westwood

latu's 2022 season was plagued by not only dropped passes but more critically his inability to even make contact with a defender on running plays, he was the worst blocking tight end in the pac 12 this season...his attitude wasn't great either, this departure is an addition by subtraction

on the other hand, love the mental & physical toughness of elijah mojarro who is the most under appreciated bear on the offensive side of the ball, dude is wired like the chicago bear's jake tonges
https://instagr.am/p/CileS1JuUfC
jermaine terry is the most physically put together tight end in the pac 12 & fully expect him to start playing to his unlimited upside during the spring practices...yeah he's a mama boy like the shockster too

latu's departure could mean that special teams standout/respected team leader nick alftin might receive a 6th year scholly, jack endries is impressing as a walk on but needs to gain more strength/weight & 3rd year scholly player jake muller got several teammates at least who think he's not working 100% in the program (real talk, ur teammates know who's working & who's sliding)

geep's departure has also been explained to 2024 tight end commit camden jones who has made it clear that as long as gets to room with rubi rose in berkeley he's gonna be good to go

who is gonna be the next already hired tight end coach?

exclusive cal's monster offensive line coach search update:

serious discussions/negotiations with current houston offensive line coach/run game coordinator brandon jones, he's 37 years old & current salary is $500,000

brandon coached with spav at cal during 2015 & 2016 as the offensive line coach/run game coordinator, blocking significantly improved during his tenure with the bears in 2016 ranking 13th in the nation in tackles for loss allowed

jones also orchestrated the o-line development from being 82nd in the nation in sacks allowed in the year before his arrival to 22nd in the nation during 2016

brandon & his wife toya got 2 daughters, londyn & jordyn

not gonna happen, cal athletic department will not pay the necessary dollars to make this happen

current athletic director james arthur knowlton would rather protect the current salary structure for all football coaches than escalate the comparative dollars in order to hire brandon jones

our con artist got himself a salary of $1,300,000+ & is willing to extend mark fox for $1,900,000+ but is not willing to fund the necessary dollars to reunite spav with brandon jones in berkeley

vote for andrew mcgraw for athletic director#

knowlton would rather save money for an elite quidditch head coach as he chases title ix championships instead of spending athletic department funds on an elite offensive line coach

so another prospective offensive line coach will be interviewing/visiting berkeley on saturday

if you see the con artist at the basketball game vs butler you should ask him how quickly he can get his **** out of his office if he's implicated in the mckeever/simon-oneil abused/suicidal women's swimmers cover up

6' 185 lbs portal transfer nohl williams from unlv & pacifica high school in oxnard is official visiting berkeley this weekend

nohl is not a dumb azz, he got a 3.61 gpa in high school & has been a multiple time all academic mountain west honoree

lockdown corner with 3 interceptions last season, williams plays with an extremely high football iq which is a valued trait by the staff's 3 musketeers, the non cali board certified law firm of brown, watson & brown

Tim Plough looks like the hire. The TE position is more a pass receiving role in Spavital's offense than a blocking one. If Terry wants to play then he will need to really get much better catching the ball and running routes. Marshall could do well in the Spavital offense.

JMO but Cal is going to need to add WRs. Spavital plays 4 most of the time. And some times plays 5.

Plough is still young and impressive (Boise State notwithstanding) resume. I like that Spavital is going younger. We need all our coaches to produce recruiting-wise.

congrats 6956 on ur super sleuthing, former boise state offensive coordinator tim plough will be the next california golden bears tight ends coach

this is an excellent hire, he's actually overqualified for this position which is a good thing plus at 37 years old he will be a force in recruiting (both geep & billy m were basically non factors in recruiting)

part of the contractual finalization includes wording that mandates that plough not bring hank "the stank" bachemier with him to berkeley, last season hank set a national d1 passing record for the most passes ever completed out of bounds in a single season

my summer club in flagstaff (7000 elevation, average summertime temps in the 70s) is open until november 1st which means on weekends the bears gotta a game in tempe/tuscon/a bye the shockster catches a northern arizona game once a season, the lumberjacks were explosive offensively during the 2013-2016 seasons...multiple full time flagstaff golf buddies have told me that tim is a very energetic & charismatic individual

They have offered a few months back. The new Cal OC runs an offense that does not feature the TE a lot. UW however does. Also Cal has a new TE coach. Relationships matter as does fit. Marshall may sense that his skillset is no longer a great fit at Cal.

Coaching changes, losing, new schemes etc. I hope he stays on board, but would not surprise me if he decommits.

what up durant, u got some dietary deal that mandates that u dine at top dog on gamedays or something on your walk up to memorial?...nothing wrong with that but it's a good thing there are usually only 7 football games a year in berkeley, them greasy as **** dogs are heart attack hand grenades

here's the deal, the vast majority of the fan message board recruiting news is either not nuanced or not current, got it?

3.4 gpa ben marshall told coach thompson this week he's solid with the #2 ranked university in the united states which is even ranked higher than vanderbilt (his childhood favorite school, not washington which if they add another tight end will be from the transfer portal), living on the west coast & away from shoneys is gonna be a dream come true for ben

look how coach spav utilized flex tight end #89 during his time in berkeley, 6'2" 230 lbs stephen anderson is currently still playing for them phx cardinals & is his 5th season of getting paid in the national football league

the routes in the video are a roadmap of how ben marshall is gonna be schematically utilized in a tight end flex role with height mismatches

@Shocky1 - as a very fuschia fashion forward oriented individual, I'd like to share an idea that I think has great potential for the essential fan community support of Cal Football.

Instead of yet another f*ing free tshirt with season tix or student tix
Navy and gold Water Polo caps
Corluka style
Recognize our dominance as national champions in water polo
Build some goodwill with our aquatics donor base
Tie in the 'other football' community

koream, gotta luv tony as he's a longtime reader of cal's monster class but that boy is kinda cray cray...unlike the highly regarded mike bloesch who is 37 years old & currently makes $275,000

the monster is kransy's source for everything (well, not the drugs) & that's not a good thing...but at least he's fun which wuz not my experience on the very serious premium board

When I Googled Tim Plough, the Google yielded an Idaho Press article published after Plough's firing that placed 100% of the blame for Boise State's underwhelming offensive performance on Avalos and offensive analyst Dirk Koetter insisting on heavy run, ball control, grind-it-out offense, and not allowing Plough to run his preferred open-style spread-oriented offense. The article completely exonerated Plough for the issues with Boise's offense.

welcome 5'10" 185 lbs kaylin moore a former colorado cornerback who started 14 games for the buffs

kaylin is originally from oaks christian in westlake village & got a conditional offer offer back in 2020 with bears db coach marcel yates as his lead recruiter...he's a strong student that was majoring in ethnic studies in boulder & is actively involved in community service

bears lack of depth at the corner showed up late in the season when lu got injured, moore is an integral addition to the defensive back room as he got 2 years of remaining eligiblity & will arrive in berkeley next month to begin classes & the winter s&c program

Shocky1

scholly roster math is fun:

at the end of this weekend gonna put together updates re: the current additions & deletions to the california golden bears 85 scholly roster

an important trend is the downsizing of the linebacking room with departures while the defensive back room is growing in numbers...and clearly cal's monster offensive line needs to be rightsized from 14 schollys last season to 16 for the upcoming season

No more money, ever, until you make decisions that make some sense. You have dragged out the McKeever thing long enough and still nothing. Show the report. Show some results. As of now, it looks like all you do is protect. Enough!! Show that YOU are doing something, because right now you look like %^&*. Great that you hired Spav back, but why is Fox still here? cal's monster offensive line 2023 prospects weekend recruiting trips:

isaiah kema (potential mormon mission)-oklahoma state

austin boyd-harvard

tavaki jr tukolovatu-washington state (last weekend)

expect major portal evaluations/actionable offers this upcoming week once the new offensive line coach is publicly announced...asu's ben scott will be a major target as is laney college's eliesa pole...oregon's bram walden is a heavy lean to return home to asu & nevada's grant starck likely going home to oregon state

last season the bears got only 14 scholly offensive linemen, right now that number is still 14 with ben coleman in the portal & grayshirt nick morrow arriving in january...could move to 13 with matthew cindric contemplating retirement, it's absolutely critical that this room get rightsized to 16

it's also imperative that coach brian johnson's failed s&c approach to the o-line room be revamped for the winter conditioning, this season's across the board lack of strength, bend, mobility & quick twitch movements needs to be addressed in preparation of the 2023 spring practices
