If they do come it would seem likely after their season ends. Centennial is likely to go deep in the CIF playoffs and scheduling is difficult once the HS playoffs get going.

^ 6956 that's a good point re: the corona centennial football schedule & its impact on open weekends...honestly the biggest challenge with the remarkable high gpa helton brothers who play with a nasty streak kinda like future starter tyler knape is that they seem to like the atmosphere of small towns like ames & corvallis (and there's nothing wrong with that, we're all wired differently), it's not clear if they are fully prioritizing the importance of building generational wealth at the #1 ranked public university in the world in a 50 year decision that is also easily traveled/accessible on gamedays for their parents

my guess is also that the so cal natives with warm greek blood have never been to ames in the winter...brrrrrh

if wade & brent decide to take one final official visit together (they are a package deal) that will be very revealing/insightful re: their ultimate college destination

meadow club update: california golden bears finish a remarkable 51 under par & win the mackenzie by 15 strokes

but the lessons of the day is that this high upside team gotta learn how to finish out tournaments like boss men like the homa/kim/hagy/weaver/salter team that crushed opponents...today's round wuz 5 under par which wuz only the 9th best team round of the day & even behind harvard which wuz 6 under par...that's some bad berkeley gpa waste of talent

best rounds of the 3rd round wuz a pair of 68s from elite senior sampson zheng (explosive back to back eagles on the 506 yards par 5 15th hole & the drivable 323 yards par 4 16th hole) & tony chen who is arguably the fastest emerging/developing player in the nation (us amateur results at cherry hills this summer are validating his relentless hard work)...nathan wang shot a 70 to finish 3rd at 15 under par, congrats...the 2 world class true freshmen eric lee (5'11" 135 lbs) & ethan fang (6'1" 145 lbs) are tuff like paper clips but apparently took the day off catching waves at stinson beach or something

the team's next competition is october 30 & 31st at the preserve in carmel, it's literally almost a 20 minute drive from the guard gate to the clubhouse at the high end fazio club with exceptional conditioning...the wildlife at the preserve is unreal...coach chun's starting line up will be competitively determined by scoring during the next 2 weeks

Investigative reporting is one of the more expensive aspects of real world journalism. Maybe I am missing something, but how do you see the perceived set up of BI as being able to handle this? It feels like straight reporting of recruiting etc. is hard enough.

My own personal opinion is that BI and the other fan sites make no pretense that journalism is in play. Are there aspects of "good" reporting? Of course, I don't mean this as a slam at anyone in particular, and, some of the writers are better than others. Overall (and I don't mean THIS story that you have on Knowlton) people on the boards aren't looking for anything negative, much past "why didn't Wilcox go for it there" kind of stories. McKeever is as big of an expose as Cal sports has ever had-probably ahead of the Jelani Gardner scandal, Issac Curtis, and the other football mess ups, that were not broken by day to day Cal fan boards...I don't find that surprising, nor atypical of sports stories that are "negative" beyond the playing field.

Have you offered to have lunch with some of the sports reporters in the Bay Area to share what you know? Or some of the sports editors? You can go to most any expose of any consequence, and it almost always starts with someone "in the know"...
