I agree Shocky - the game day experience at Auburn was excellent. Beautiful setting and lots of friendly fans. 100% of the ones our family encountered were classy.

I'm so happy to have experienced test win. We sat very near the main Cal section and our area was about 50/50 Cal and Auburn fans. The Cal fans were much louder from the get go. The chants of "You know it, you tell the story…" as the 4th quarter wound down were exhilarating! You're right, Shocky, Cal football is best enjoyed in person!

Here's a pic of my son CJ celebrating right after the game ended with some nearby Cal fans that we just met…everyone was going crazy with joy!

Looks like we didn't get a photo of Wilcox as he was leaving the field, but here's a description….

The Cal players and coaches exited the field via a walkway in the corner below where most of the Csl fans were. A big highlight for me was all of us Cal fans screaming and cheering for the players as the left…the players were pumped and they jubilantly acknowledged the crowd. It was really cool.

A couple minutes after the Cal team left, Fernando left the field (I am assuming he did a tv interview on the field first). He got an enormous ovation from our fans and he was totally pumped to gesture to us! That dude is a leader and an awesome Bear!

About a minute later, Wilcox exited the field and as he was high fives by some Cal folks who were fortunate to be at the field level by the gate, Wilcox displayed more emotion than I've ever seen him. I think it was an exaggerated fist pump with some other body contortions. It was like a cathartic release for him, which is not surprising given what a key accomplishment today's win was. It was really great to see!

If someone has a photo or video, please post it!

and a happy as **** justin wilcox wildly threw his hat to the screaming cal fans while exiting the field, have never seen coach so spontaneous...yeah shocky's work in helping him holistically become a less uptight as **** person on planet earth seems to be working

This picture is what makes me most hopeful (well, getting our team healthy is first) about this season. Maybe Wilcox has turned another corner. Maybe another corner to turn is for our OC/OL coach to figure out more creative ways to free up our SPEEDY backs!!!!

cal's monster class: BLOCKING

a major point of emphasis for cal's monster class this season will be the recognition of physical BLOCKING particulary since the wideouts (other than mavin anderson on the ott td) & tight ends (other than corey dyches the entire game) didn't do much of that **** on saturday (2.7 yards per running play against a fcs defense) which is carryover from last season's powderpuff flag football candy azz soft BLOCKING

so props to dynamic playmaker nohl williams throwing shout out props to ryan yaites, jordan king & tj bollers for their key blocks on his electric kickoff return touchdown!!!

the first time in his 7 years in berkeley that justin recognizes publicly a key BLOCK will be a 1st

look nyziah hunter is the bears #1 receiver right now but the play that impressed shocky the most wuz a yet another unsuccessful coach bloesch intentionally running cars into telephone poles play call during which nyziah relentlessly blocked the tigers db for 20 yards down the ******* field near the cal sidelines as the staff & his teammates cheered his physical **** u up style of play!!!

nyziah hunter=bad azz BLOCKING mvp

yeah this exciting play wuz not viewable for cal's tv fans, r u gonna represent this upcoming sat nite at 7:30 pm at memorial stadium so u can see ur own BLOCKING mvp candidate plays in real life or r u gonna sit on ur sofa/type on the gameday thread???

My two cents.

Defense is much improved, though not deep, and may start to trail-off as the season progresses

Daniels is at best a mediocre passing talent who is passing to some excellent WRs and TE .

There oline is the worst unit. Their running back Smith may be decent, hard to say. Right now the QBs (they play a different QB in short down situations) are their best runners.

Pitchouts don't work if your OL is too slow to get to the outside edge to block or your WR isn't an aggressive blockers. I am pretty confident Auburn's defense is very fast, so I am not sure how often a pitch out won't lead to the Auburn defenders beating Ott to the spot and it's a 3-yard lost. At least when you run inside you are running forward rather than horizontally shrug.

I don't see much creativity but a limiting factor is if you don't have a QB who is an excellent runner. It's much easier to run cool run plays when you have 10 blockers with the QB running rather than handing it to the RB. BC has some great run concepts versus Florida State but their QB is very fast.

No real excuse for the current offensive staff because this is the team they went with and they have to put the players in the best position for success.

So in short I am all for running more stuff on the outside, but it doesn't matter if Auburn just faster and stronger than the Cal blockers.
joegeo, what's ur take at this time re: PITCHOUTS??

agreed auburn's defensive line possesses size, strength & mobility but that does not also apply to uc davis or san diego state, right?

We are not going to push anyone around with our blocking scheme. I don't care how much bigger and stronger we are. Our OL stands up on every play. If that's our strategy then quit running so many damn pre called runs right up the middle.

Good morning Shocky,

How are you?

I am fine.

You have been quite incessant in your quest for me to dial up PITCHOUTS for our all american running back but I'm kinda wondering what are your football credentials, did you even play ball back in the day?

I asked MG & Benji to look for your Hudl tape from Stinson Beach High School but they couldn't find anything, weird right?

Anyways, here's Jaydn's rushing performances in the 3 games during which I've had sole play calling authority:

Texas Tech: 16 carries for 45 yards
UC Davis: 14 carries for 49 yards
Auburn: 10 carries for 11 yards

So obviously we need to change something as JO is projected by ESPN to be the #1 running back selection in the 2025 NFL draft, right? This isn't really working right now tho Ott is still kinda banged up and can't cut hard. It will also immensely help when strongman Sioape and WWE trench worker Will return to the field. It's NOT my intention to "crash cars into telephone poles" or cost Jaydn millions of dollars with my play calling, ok?

Shocky, appreciate your support of me since Day 1 and don't think I haven't noticed your gameplan for me to become the next Head Coach until future HC in waiting Mike Saffell is ready to take the key to the program after Justin strokes out and Andrew McGraw is the next Athletic Director in Berkeley.

In asking around the ONLY reason Coach Cuonzo Martin didn't tell you to get lost during the Cal Monster Class era of national basketball prominence is because his wife Roberta considered you her gameday seat buddy at road games and told her husband NOT to keep you further afar. But my wife doesn't know you from the waiter at Peking Duck in Pleasant Hill (the orange chicken is my favorite!!)

Look, I know you think I'm kinda predictable and probably eat too many unhealthy BBQ brisket sandwiches at Buc-ee but next time I meet with Coach AT's running backs room I'm going to tell the JET!!!! that he's a killer mamushi and a star star star star star star!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyways, Shocky I got a couple of play call ideas for San Diego State that might excite you!!!! Keep the faith...

Best regards,

Coach Mike Bloesch
