https://instagr.am/p/C8ew4NgxokH weather update: mid 70s rite now with a light breeze, no chance of rain...projected to be mid 80s at kickoff & high 70s in the 2nd half
breakfast update: y'all, should shocky order the grand slam with angioplasty fixins or go to the nearby piggly wiggly & get a couple cans of beef purina dog food??...**** me, should've packed a ramen or something
https://instagr.am/p/C9IsIgJJF4_ lotta gameday energy, it's family weekend in tallahassee (parents very excited to see their 2.5 gpa sons & daughters!!)

in prep work for the 2024 president's cup ben an struggled late in the round with 2 unforced bogeys but still shot a 70 and is 4 under par thru 3 rounds at the bmw championship on the dp tour, next week ben will be competing against collin morikawa & max homa at royal montreal's blue course
berkeley got more participants in the 2024 prez cup than any other school on planet earth!!
cal is a golf school (that gotta pretty good football program too)#
the day before a ucla gameday their new head coach deshaun foster is spending valuable time not game planning for them bad azz lsu tigers but rather blocking angry bruins fans on his twitter account
1-11 2024 ucla record projection (with recruiting down the drain)#
TRASH DEFENSE ALERT: north carolina & north carolina state giving up 100 points aggregated in the 1st halves of their games with bad angles, poor tackling & overall lack of d SPEED
the packs d is absolute trash, they might've well just taken the day off & gone to the beach in wilmington & read a good book instead of venturing to death valley...giving up 254 yards in the air is not great but getting steamrolled for 269 yards & a candy azz soft 8.2 yards per rush is really really bad
offensively state's wideout kevin concepcion is a dangerous threat, the takers will need to double bracket him when he comes to berkeley on saturday october 19th
shame the heels aren't gonna play the bears this season but whiny azz lobbyist mack brown's 600+ yards porous d will be venturing to memorial stadium in 2025
apparently the latrobe institute for bricklayers wuz already scheduled so the panthers beat the **** outta the panthers who got a nice body bag paycheck
yeah the oakmont & pitt game battle on october 12th is gonna be an epic roadie adventure to steel town!!
fun fact: curvy brunette yoga females from academically mediocre schools like auburn (such as the young lady in the above foto on the far left with the cal t-shirt) wanna date & marry cal, stanford & ivy league grads when they enter the real world (not to be confused with the vicarious imaginary world of gameday threads) that unremorsefully favors the well educated
the sec gotta lotta low gpa disposable gladiators that r ****** once football is done with them#
Miami is going to blow us out because of crap offensive coaches and a crappy offensive line. The OL is indeed monstrous and offensive.
go oskie, help me understand ur perspective, ok?
how many games have u attended in person this season specifically the hostile venues in auburn & tallahassee with decibel levels that make it impossible to hear snap counts?
will u be at memorial stadium on saturday october 5th when them miami hurricanes blow into berkeley with their tornado weather channel offense creating noise/energy to ensure a hostile home field advantage like they do in the deep south?
do u evah get any azz and/or do u gotta yoga/meditation practice?
smu's defense is pure TRASH giving up 415 passing yards & they tackle like low gpa curvy brunette yoga females in the school's wednesday nite coed football league that love doggy dogs more than reading books & ****
offensively smu gotta powerful running game tho new qb1 kevin jennings is more of a threat with his feet than the air which is a radical departure from now qb2 preston stone
the bears visiting the mustangs on saturday november 30th will be a semi home game with all the university of calveston bearents, families & friends visiting shocky's pregame FREE buffett at buc-ee's before the new acc annual rivalry game
the canes tornado weather channel offense is led by heisman candidate qb1 cameron ward who completed 24 of 34 passes for 404 yards
fun fact: former oregon state all american rb damien martinez has gained too much weight & has lost a step & now runs kinda like ronald mcdonald after a couple of big macs with golden french fries
defensively the canes front 7 (allowed only 62 rushing yards) are very strong/quick as **** almost like florida state but the defensive backfield gave up 303 yards in the air...the mike bloesch/sterlin gilbert predictable gameplan of intentionally smashing cars into telephone poles without any PITCHOUTS to the edges in wide open spaces is not gonna work (very disappointed that coach at is not lobbying for PITCHOUTS) but the jumbo heavy run package with 2 tight ends & 2 wideouts is the bears best bet schematically to attack the cristoballs d
those that truly bleed blue & gold will be creating energy/a hostile homefield advantage at memorial stadium on october 5th...who knows maybe markeisha & knowlton will shock everybody & offer FREE tixs to all students to ensure crowd noise kinda like it is in the deep south & then our coaching/front office staff can focus on prepping for the canes instead of doing the lyons (the king of fotoshoots but not personnel action, his decision/failure to take action re: the suicidal women's swimmers some of whom who were racially abused has lost much of my respect for him) enabled worthless bureaucrats jobs
warning: big 10 purdue learned a hard lesson re: the stupidity of scheduling a road game in corvallis as the beavs rushed for an insane 341 yards in permanently disabling the boilermakers
oskisgfisasmokeshow, since shocky has been to only 2 games at haas since the cal's monster class era he's probably not the right person to ask about basketball
The ACC is a tougher basketball conference and the travel will be harder on the basketball team than the football team.
Knowlton extending Wilcox out 6 years after 5 years with a losing record is was insanity. He is not improving as a program manager, if anything he is getting worse. He did not even bother with an OC search this time and in the process we lost Bloesch as our full time OL coach. We are squandering the HUGE opportunity we have been given.
note: the following evaluation is based on multiple sources & my personal observations:
*****ryan longwell is a paid special teams consultant that lives 3000 miles away from berkeley that shows up around once a month, his personality is such that he is not really nurturing/encouraging in his coaching style which is kinda mind boggling from someone who is a scratch golfer who understands the mental fragility of golf swings/kicking motions
*****the kicking during the longwell era other than mateen bhaghani have been been beyond breaking bad with his unreal loyalty to the 3 iron trajectory dario longhetto which cost the bears multiple games in every season of his cal career
*****the punting during the longwell era has been somewhere north of mediocre with inconsistent distance & hang time
*****mateen bhaghani wuz a perfect 27 of 27 on extra points & 8 of 9 on field goals, he wuz not given any opportunities to kick any over 50 yards...he is now the ucla kicker, his 2024 big 10 season will be interesting to track
*****mateen bhaghani wuz given the assignment to kick off in only one game, his pregame instructions were to "kick the ball high & to the right" which wuz not practiced during the week...the dumb azzs will tell you he failed to kick the ball deep & lacks leg strength based upon this
*****it wuz a major 2024 recruiting miss & poor player evaluation of personnel by the staff not to offer all american punter kanyon floyd who will be heading to hometown asu with a full scholly...kanyon would've given the bears a potential 4 year all acc punter who with his current 4.73 gpa would've been a strong candidate to gain acceptance into the haas biz school
*****coach so'oto is nowhere in sight during special teams pregame warm ups (presumably vic is with the outside linebackers room), anyalyst zack tinker handles the warm ups
*****tinker preps during the week the punting & kick off coverage & return gameplans
*****the usc special teams play wuz terrible under coach so'oto (coach wilcox referenced his "experience" when he assigned the room to vic)
*****no team fair catches punts more than cal, the decision to have sure handed jeremiah hunter as the punt returner despite lacking lateral explosiveness to make the 1st tacklers miss is mind boggling
*****kickoff returns other than the epic jaydn ott touchdown return in the rose bowl have been non existent
*****shocky bumped into the last special teams coach charlie ragle & then recently hired bill musgrave in february of 2021 outside of the raucous world famous 16th hole of the phoenix open, both guys were absolutely **** faced & mostly incoherent during our 5 minute conversation...the person with me noted that both of them had the bulbous red noses of those with major drinking problems
*****former special teams analyst michael barton is "a terrible communicator"
special teams bottom line: cal has fielded the worst special teams units in college football during the coach wilcox era, a full time special teams coach needs to be hired as the bears can no longer afford the luxury of 2 defensive back coaches
coach wilcox gotta longtime friendship with ryan longwell, just like justin gotta blind spot re: the power of PITCHOUTS on offense (right now he's wasting the generational talents of jaydn), he's also gotta blind spot re: special teams
1st of all, huge props to australian lachlan wilson on his confident booming punts with both distance & hang time & also long snapper david bird who is money
mateen bhaghani's parents unilaterally reached out to me (which is a common occurrence with quite a few bearents) after last season to share with me their concerns re: their high gpa son (who wuz striving to gain admission into the haas biz ad school) & his "unhealthy treatment" by multiple members of the cal staff including longwell
justin, luv u man but the bears didn't lose tonite because of the defense, u lost because ur offense line wuz not properly prepared for silent snaps, ur wasting the outside running talents of jaydn ott & because u ran off a mentally tough as nails high gpa kicker/young man who loved berkeley
time to wake the **** up & quit blaming the d, maybe look in the mirror or get a yoga/meditation practice before u stroke out, ok?
in his last tune up before next week's 2024 prez cup ben an eagled 3 the watery par 5 18th hole en route to a 65 at wentworth west in surrey england in the bmw championship final round
https://instagr.am/p/B_x-EwfJ1rC brisk walking twosome 18 holes at seminole golf club (she has never sparkled so brilliantly with the recent restoration work by coore & crenshaw to expose the sand dunes of arguably the donald ross masterpiece) with "key largo" on our bags who is a greens reading wizard
afterwards over an early lunch of delicious pan seared cod in a white wine tomato sauce in the iconic pink clubhouse hard by the atlantic ocean asked the member if it might be possible to attend a yoga class tomorrow in tallahassee before the 7:00 pm kickoff which resulted in mr big explaining to me that many longtime (i.e. bluebloods) floridians do not consider the florida panhandle (which includes tallahassee) as part of the "real florida" but rather part of the "deep south" where nascar rivals college football in popularity
apparently shocky don't know **** about geography in this part of the world
that did NOT sufficiently happen with enough reps & that's just really bad gameday prep work, cal's monster offensive line got some of the smartest/high gpa true student athletes in the program so it's not due to a lack of intelligence or discipline
stubbornly ineffective playcalling + bad offensive line gameday prep work + failure to audible outta blitz packages=a cal loss
honestly it seems like mike bloesch might be in over his head tryna handle both oc & ol duties but if we've learned anything during the ryan longwell consulting era is that the head coach will NOT intervene unless it's a defense related issue
this is cal football (but it can change in a moment's time if the hc is committed to growth & the unsuccessful ongoing mindset that the d gotta throw a shutout every time on gamedays in order to emerge victorious)#
in his role as one of the world's top 5 golf course architecture critics/enthusiasts shocky plays a lotta golf, 100+ walking rounds a year
the last couple of weeks shocky had architecturally important (to him) rounds at peachtree in atlanta, brambles in middletown & seminole outside of miami which are all firm & fast linksy designs which celebrate the ground game...in preparation for these rounds the monster played all of his short game shots with his putter (unless there wuz a bunker directly between him & the pin) for a month
and yeah shocky putted well from off the greens in these 3 rounds including multiple 100+ feet 2 putt pars at brambles during his 36 hole pure golf experience
now shocky in the next couple of weeks got important (to him) rounds at the renovated olympic (lake), merion & oakmont which historically got punishing lush rough around the greens...so starting with today's late afternoon round here back in the desert shocky is gonna pitch/flop every shot around the green instead of putting
wut's ur point, shocky (nobody gives a **** about ur golf game)??
coach bloesch should've practiced the silent count throughout the 2024 spring & fall camps and then played the uc davis game with the silent count instead of waiting until the bears 2 games in the deep south against 70,000+ insanely loud crowds...the issues that surfaced last nite with illegal motion/pre snap movement would've surfaced against uc davis in a still winnable game & been correctable
instead cal's monster offensive line wuz not comfortable/poorly prepared for the silent snap count & that wuz a major factor in last nite's loss along with the ongoing failure to dial up even a single PITCHOUT (which honestly is probably never gonna happen at this time & it's gonna cost jaydn millions of dollars in the 2025 nfl draft)
my biggest lesson/takeaway from graduating from the haas biz school other than learning how to decipher the hidden numbers in a financial statement is to always be the most prepared person in the room when entering a business meeting...that didn't happen last nite in tallahassee
it's pretty obvious that mike bloesch got too much on his plate right now, it's the head coach's responsibility to find constructive solutions to that problem or we can just keep on doing the same old **** until eventually justin strokes out in a post game press conference, self awareness goes a long way in life
Agree with many others that we should use pitchouts or toss plays to get Ott to the outside. One thing I noticed was that Ott frequently comes to almost a full stop behind the line waiting for a hole to open up, all the while the defenders are closing in on him. Pitchouts would allow him to keep moving and keep his speed, rather than coming to a stop and trying to reaccelerate.
Having said this, I'm wondering how much feedback Ott (or players in general) provides to coaches in-game about such things. If he says, "hey coach, I'm not seeing any holes up the middle, how about we try a pitchout to the outside?" , I'm sure it will carry some weight and be considered. Is this not happening?
Defenders have at least a two-step head start toward ott and everyone else thanks to the freaking RIDICULOUS inability of literally anyone to snap the damn ball properly, imagine if our long snapper looped it up like that for punts ans placekicks. It's maddening.

b&g, agreed snaps are not ideal this season thus far but the bigger issue to me is that the o-line seems slow to move in response to the snaps, they are not quick off the ball which makes it seem kinda like they're moving in slo mo & opposing defenders are already accelerating past them for tackles behind the line of scrimmage...some of that might be not having quick twitch +1 athleticism but in the auburn & florida state games it seems that the lack of comfort with the silent snaps is the real problem (which is correctable)

bearforceone, 100% agreed that jaydn ott is most effective when already in motion & moving towards maximum acceleration (thx u ultravox)...the current playcalling of intentionally running him like a car into a telephone pole isn't working at all & as you point out requires him to slowly probe non existent holes for a gap which mitigates his elite SPEED
if there's anyone in the program that can lobby for a PITCHOUT or another play call it's jaydn ott, he's got the maximum respect of everyone in the program...the bigger question is why isn't the old school bloesch asking jaydn what play calls best take advantage of his skillset??
mike has had 5 games now calling the plays & there's been ZERO PITCHOUTS, ott's rushing yardage numbers have been terrible during this period...mike has publicly said he doesn't care about statistics as long as the team wins, well cal lost to florida state saturday nite & jaydn ott is gonna lose millions in the 2025 nfl draft if the playcalling doesn't improve to take advantage of our players' strengths
former starting center addison ooms dad has posted here on the monster thread that his son actively lobbied bill musgrave to dial up PITCHOUTS and that those plays wuz successful so there's always hope that bloesch is NOT tuning everybody/everything out
averaging 3.86 yards per rush this season despite elite rbs like jaydn & THE JET!!!! along with being one of the worst teams in the nation in protecting the qb (bottom 5 in sacks allowed per game) suggest that bloesch's strategies need to be reevaluated during the bye week
it's also a shame/disappointing that ott's position coach aristotle thompson & coach toler who knows wut javid best did with PITCHOUTS aren't lobbying on jaydn't behalf to get him the football while already in motion accelerating to maximum SPEED to the edges with wide open space to do his MAGIC!!
^markeisha & knowlton r against getting involved with gameday so the cal football team gotta directly coordinate the meals for our guests, lyons don't care wut his bureaucrats do as long as he's invited to the foto shoot
