To attract 'baller' OL guys we need to have a system where they get to fire out and maul people not one where we can't get one yard against SDSU...at least occasionally. We ask our OL to stand up and wall off almost every play. No big ugly wants to come do that.

^ that's not an accurate description of the cal o-line scheme (tho it might seem like that at times), the 2025 bears o-line room is a very attractive deal with the opportunity for early playing time (3 starting seniors outta eligibility after this season), a highly respected/regarded offensive line coach, an acc schedule to FUN further afar schools & a degree from the #1 ranked public university in the world

Almost every program in the nation runs the RPO scheme or at least has that in their offensive package. Many of the NFL teams now have RPO packages in their playbook. It is run at many HS programs.Cal pulls their OL often and you need a certain level of mobility to perform those run schemes. This system works well a lot of places.

I am not pleased with the OL performance to date, but I think it is more about talent and execution rather than base scheme. McDonald is now back and hopefully Vatikani is or will be. That may help as will better execution from the QB on his reads.

I am actually more distressed over pass protection at this point. Fernando has been sacked 13 times in the last 2 games and had numerous pressures as well.

^ agreed that the o-line overall sub performance this season is more attributable to injuries, a lack of quick twitch +1 athleticism & predictable 1980s texas high school smashmouth playcalling than the o-line schemes

tj sessions is heading into his 6th collegiate season & the room leader, he needs to significantly improve his physicality at the point of attack & become more vocal with his teammates if tj wanna facilitate his team winning more football games & his getting PAID in the nfl (right now his draft stock is plummeting like a rock in the pacific ocean)

when the bears got 4th & 1 they need to know that if they run behind our fiery right tackle that tj is gonna impose his will & get the job ******* done

make no mistake about it, haas biz ad grad collin morikawa got ******* ice in his veins while simultaneously chewing gum/smiling like a little kid playing golf dialing up crazy azz FUN flighted shots thru imaginary windows with his friends, zero stress

ben an wuz on the wrong side of the outcome with a balky putter but delivered a clutch birdie on the par 4 18th hole to put pressure on the american team to win the match

looking forward to seeing max homa competing mañana, he made the right move 2 weeks ago moving away from swing coach mark blackburn (collin also fired blackburn & went back to his childhood teacher rick sessinghaus who encourages collin's unlimited creativity/imagination rather than rigid mechanical thoughts), right now max don't gotta coach & is justing sending videos to a trusted friend who is giving him feedback...when homa is smiling/laughing with caddie joey greiner on the course, watch out world!!


2024 cal vs stanford big match:

the cards win 4 to 3 in the 7 coed matches, awesome to see true freshman eric zhou competing at menlo cc, he wuz the 6th lowest scorer in the 7 rounds qualifying series for the aldarra tournament & did not qualify for the 5 player traveling roster to the northwest...eric competed in a couple of dp tour events as a high school student in china, he gotta lotta elite upside

when shocky went to stanford summer school at branner hall between his jr & sr years at stinson beach high school, he along with the hawk & crazy bobby used to sneak on at menlo cc (an architecturally bland housing development course) late in the afternoons boldly pretending we wuz members of something...one time crazy bobby talked us into sitting on the patio as darkness descended & we ordered cokes...when the waitress asked for the member # he just made up a 3 digit number..she smiled, brought our drinks/trail mix & walked away...yeah don't tell nobody but shocky is a criminal

Just my small sample opinion when I watch replays. Could be wrong. Not being able to get one yard repeatedly, though, seems to bear out the possibility that we are not a strong, fire out type of OL.

79, shocky got no idea wut ingredients sprouts, chop shop or whole foods puts in his daily 32 oz green juices, my guess is that it's probably leftover golf course grass clippings or something?

schulzie tried buying all the ingredients (kale, celery, etc.) but it's a lotta work & it's all perishable plus my doggy dogs aren't crazy about eating the leftovers so it's a lot easier to just buy (or shoplift, shocky is a criminal) my 32 oz green juice (which reduces sugar/alcohol cravings) on a daily basis which also facilitates 25+ headstand stomach crunches

when shocky started this yoga/meditation plus green juice journey he had a 34+ inch waist, now it's 32 & on a spring south carolina golf trip he forgot to bring pants for a formal dinner at one of the clubs & squeezed into a golf buddy's 21 year old son's 31 inch slacks (kinda snug but still had room for a chocolate sundae desert with drizzly fudge & a scoop of vanilla ice cream)

the only downside of improving my gut health/reducing my body mass & coring out via green juices (which also improves one's skin complexion) is that shocky don't hit the golf ball as far with his driver anymore...yeah it's true, a little junk in the trunk creates more yardage/clubhead speed off the tee but in the big scheme of things in life on planet earth that's not really important to this golf course architecture enthusiast/traveler who prioritizes rescue doggy dog advocacy/fundraising

I think Oregon will be selling Bo Nix and CFP dreams to JKS. Nix was a 1st round draft choice under the current UO staff. That sets you up for life. That along with NIL$$ can provide a very nice experience for a young player. The legacy of Hawaii QBs at UO cannot be overlooked here. Following Mariota and now Gabriel (who JKS admires) will be appealling. That they extended an actionable offer to JKS suggests he is open to heading there.

Oregon is no longer a Cal opponent. But that program is very aggressive in its recruting tactics and has a large pocketbook. IMO this is a much more serious challenge for Cal than Utahs offer. And I do expect other programs to take a swing at JKS. USC may yet join this recruitment as well.

As a parent of a 4 year D1 soccer player with a 3.8 HS GPA with actionable offers to numerous academic schools like Cal, UCI, Cal Poly etc that chose to go to a "mediocre" academic midwestern soccer powerhouse I can say with certainty that some kids want other experiences.

I was not happy with his decision at the time but I wanted it to be his. He had a great experience playing ball and got a good degree along the way. He is an environmental engineer and works now in Washington State making a nice salary and is dating a curvy yoga brunette despite his shortsighted decision to go elsewhere for school.

Oregon is not remotely in Cal's universe as an academic school. On that we agree. Cal has Jaron's commitment today. I am sure they will be consistently selling the virtues of the Cal experience daily with Jaron and his family. And we will find out what Jaron and his family value more. It has zero to do with me. Or you.

6956's 3.8 gpa son is NOT a dumb azz (particularly the dating the curvy brunette yoga female part)!!

but schools such as irvine & cal poly & so forth are very good (certainly not in the same lower division academic league as oregon) but not internationally recognized ELITE institutions like cal, stanford & the ivy leagues

fun fact: the average high school gpa for the oregon football program is south of a 2.75 gpa & 95% of these ducks will never earn a single dollar playing football in the nfl but they will be well positioned someday to transition to the coos bay flying beaver convenience store/truck stop supervisor training program before they marry a lot lizard with cfm pumps before eventually dying a slow painful death from incurable stds

fun fact duex: if the cal and oregon football programs switched players 80% of the current ducks would be on academic probation within their 1st semester in berkeley & two thirds of the players would flunk out within a year
