shocky's 1a offensive coordinator preferred candidate:

with dynamic offensive fireworks at every stop on the bay area native's resume, nick rolovich would be a homerun hire & as he's already currently coaching at stinson beach high school he would be ready to hit the ground running with a FREE richmond bridge commuter pass

nick grew up in novato, wuz a jc all american qb at san francisco city college & set passing records at hawaii...in his coaching career he wuz the head coach at both hawaii & washington state (mentored the cougs qb coach craig stutzmann) during which his qbs passed for intergalactic yardages

last season rolo consulted on the bears offense when things went sideways with spav, he's already familiar with the staff & much of the offensive player personnel

this decision should be about winning football games on a football field with a football, NOT political views

roll on u rollo's!!
This would be beyond a homerun hire!!!!

I would be thrilled with a Rolo hire!

Any ideas why he is coaching HS and not already coaching in college somewhere? Blacklisted?

It was COVID and his right-wing politics and Anti-Black political position and hypocrisy (I have rights but you don't) caught on tape. Didn't pass in Eastern Washington, but people here think it will pass in Berkeley?

https://www.nytimes.com/2020/08/03/sports/coronavirus-college-athletes-opt-out.html

https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/pac12/2021/09/01/washington-state-coach-nick-rolovich-sued-ex-player-kassidy-woods/5683198001/
Anti-Black? That's a real stretch/slur.

According to Kassidy Woods' lawsuit:

"Rolovich's acts were racist, intentional, malicious, willful, wanton, and in gross and reckless disregard of Woods' constitutional rights," the lawsuit said and contended Woods had a recorded phone conversation to prove it."
The lawsuit that was dismissed without any recovery?

Did you really attend Cal? Because believing/adopting allegations in a lawsuit as "the truth" is pretty ill informed. If I file a lawsuit calling you a racist, or a nazi, or a communist, or a pedophile, does that make it true?

The irony is that if Woods did record a conversation (and the NY Times article you linked to indicates he did), then it was Woods who broke the law.

Meanwhile, Rolovich coached a lot of places and was well liked by his players. Including Jaylen Watson, Calvin Jackson Jr., Calvin Jackson Jr., Renard Bell, and Tay Martin (all of whom I believe are African American)

https://dailyevergreen.com/117796/sports/cougar-players-react-to-rolovich-news/

What does that tell you? It is possible Rolovich mistreated Woods. But if so, there is no evidence it was because he was Black. If there was such evidence, the lawsuit would not have been dismissed w/o a settlement.

I hope Cal hires Rolovich because he's a good coach with a proven track record and there is no evidence he's a bad person (in fact there's lots of evidence to the contrary).

2025 class recruiting update:

right now the bears got 14 high school commitments, the #1 junior college target on the staff's 2025 big board is jc all american 6'4" 240 lbs apex predator edge defender odera okaka from national powerhouse san mateo college (developing under coach ben hawk schrider's tutelage) & previously pittsburg high school

with both current starting outside backers david reese & the x man outta eligiblity & pursuing nfl careers after this season, there is a legit opportunity for odera to come in & be an impact starter from day 1 in berkeley...odera is a high motor violent defender that got offers from both sec & big 10 schools

odera is not a dumb azz, check out this dean's list letter

the university of california, berkeley=#1 ranked public university in the world (including the beautiful people of nigeria and a short drive for the fam to memorial stadium on gamedays)

https://instagr.am/p/C9-HpkkI7f8
KEY 2025 class recruiting update:

odera okaka officially visited hometown cal on november 16th, kinda racist mississippi state last weekend, west virginia on october 11th & will visit penn state this weekend before making his FINAL decision as a january 2025 enrollee

there are 4 huge pluses in cal's favor:

1) the bears are losing both outside linebackers, next season ryan mcculloch (who wuz odera's host on his official visit to berkeley) is penciled in as one starter with okaka in a strong position to win the other starting apex predator edge defender job

2) the college of san mateo fightin' benjis defensive schemes (as taught by berkeley grad/future bears assistant coach ben hawk schrider) are very SIMILAR to coach sirmon's schemes...the more comfortable/familiar a player is in his new team's schemes, the faster he can play with violent SPEED

3) the cost of travel & lack of direct flights (requiring multiple connections) to remote university park, starksville & blacksburg will require thousands of dollars & 3 day trips for his fam to watch him vs the short drive (maybe 2-3 galloons of gas, $15 bucks max total cost with no airfare, hotels, rental cars or meals) from pittsburg to berkeley on gamedays

4) let's be real here, ok, all of okaka's other choices are mediocre as **** academic skools that view football players as disposable gladiators, if building GENERATIONAL WEALTH thru hard work in the classroom is a priority for odera then berkeley stands out with it's promise of a brighter future

understood, a kinda worthless oregon degree in the highly competitive global economy is a fair trade off for buying a family home in ewa beach with uncle phil's blood money from paying southeast asia slave laborers starvation wages in order to sell a couple of hundred dollah nike kicks in the united states (shocky got zero nike gear)

the truth is that oregon is gonna potentially be the cal's farm program for qb development...either 3.75 gpa jks or even more athletic 6'6" 3.57 gpa akili smith jr is gonna be in the portal next offseason looking for a playing time opportunity

cam, 100% agreed, akili jr got a 3.57 gpa, throws a beautiful tight spiral with his 6'6" passing lanes vision & is much more mobile than jks which will make him a better fit for the ducks qb1 run game/scramble schemes

but hard pass tho on 4.0 gpa dante moore, my ucla golf buddy (harvard prep, now a riv & lacc member) has tole me a couple of thing which are deal breaking red flags (these details will be shared with the cal staff if moore enters the portal next offseason)

the truth of the matter is that nobody can compete with uncle phil's slave labor blood money, larry ellison just bought the michigan qb cuz he's banging a university of michigan female grad which is a one off deal for him...the jks nil allocated dollars can now be spread among a lotta key players that need to be retained, the bears cannot afford a high paycheck qb2/qb3 like oregon

will be fun to see how the 2025 oregon qb1 battle plays out as the bears next qb1 after mendoza earns his haas biz ad degree may be in eugene this fall...good luck to jaron & akili!!

With regard to JW's press conference, what should we make of his vagueness around answering the question about staff changes? He wouldn't confirm, one way or the other, that there will be a new OC, or even that there would be any staff "additions". Only that nobody's been let go and that specific roles have not been determined. And "who knows who's calling plays for the bowl game" (paraphrasing).

pitts, this is the monster i spy staffing analysis:

fact: coach wilcox is making a change at offensive coordinator aka the play caller

fact: the ncca rules allow 1 head coach & 10 assistant coaches than can travel off campus to recruit but an unlimited # of coaches/analysts that can be on the field on gamedays

fact: college football/basketball recruiting is most effectively by those that are under 30 years of age

fact: the bears next offensive coordinator will be probably be designated as a coach that can recruit but that is not written in stone (billy m wuz an ineffectual recruiter, old white guys need to stay in the office)

opinion: sterlin gilbert is a technically strong developer of quarterbacks (nando significantly improved this season in all phases of the game particularly with respects to ball security) but is not a dynamic recruiter...as the qb room coach he could be an analyst at the same salary

opinion: burl toler is one of the top recruiters on the west coast but there is institutional non BLOCKING in his room which is reflected by his failure to get his wideouts drafted in the nfl, his best position might be as a running back coach

opinion: aristotle thompson's career record of getting his running backs drafted in the nfl is also abysmal, at could function as an analyst thereby opening up another position coaching opportunity for another dynamic young recruiter like mike saffell

opinion: if coach sirmon moves on to another opportunity, new dc coordinator candidates need to be pre identified including recently released tim deruyter from texas tech

Maybe to give some of his coaches soft landing if they find new jobs to say they got promoted at this new program rather than they are coming after being fired at Cal.

Wilcox probably (and should frankly) know which coaches are sticking around on offense but I guess no need to publicly float it.

2024 dp tour in south africa: 1st round update

traveling 20+ hours once again without his regular caddie/best friend joey greiner max homa worked with a whisper rock caddie en route to a 1st round lead with a 8 birdie 66 in his championship defense to repeat

after crooked azz driving all season on the pga tour, homa has been working on his swing here in scottsdale with no tournaments since the prez cup in september...today on a narrow design with the bush just yards off the fairway max hit 10 outta 14 fairways with really one 1 sorta wayward drive on the par 4 13th hole in tree jail which led to a bogey 5

a hot start got the momentum rolling in the right direction, 3 birdies in a row baby!!

and max once again hit a world class approach shot into the middle of the island green on the par 5 9th hole, homa basically won the tournament last year on this hole with his audacious eagle 3 in the final round...needless to say this is homanation's favorite hole in africa!!

champions got mental toughness without ******* pity partys when things don't go their way (like not tryna tackle a db after an interception, right jack?), on the par 4 15th hole homa kinda smoked his flop shot & had the presence of mind to hustle up to the green to check out the slope of his next putt as his ball raced by the hole

max is a closer with birdies on the course's 2 toughest holes the watery 17th & 18th par 4 monsters
