cal's monster class recruiting update:

arriving tomorrow (sunday) to cal on an official visit is washington portal transfer 6'6" 262 lbs apex predator edge defender jayden wayne from tacoma (spent his senior year of high school at the img academy in florida, a top 100 rated player in the nation), he's already spent a season in miami & seattle and now got 2 years of remaining eligibility

jayden is NOT a dumb azz, he got a 4.0 gpa

wayne got all the measurables of a greek god & takes care of his body, the biggest question is how much does he love playing football on a football field with a football??...if he brings a hunter barth or liam johnson level of passion to the game wayne is gonna be an impact destructive force of nature!!

the university of california, berkeley=#1 ranked public university in the world (including the cold as **** & dreary azz northwest)

His productivity has never matched his physical traits. Even in HS. Is a good student as you point out and is not a character concern.

Can this staff tap into the potential? Big question. Certainly worth trying but I would continue looking at others that play that spot.

6956, vic so'oto & marshall cherrington have tried bringing in low gpa outside linebackers & several of them didn't make it academically in berkeley, they've learned that guys struggling in the classroom also don't tend to become productive in any meaningful way on the field at a position that requires an aggressive personality like david reese who will be missed for his motivational speeches to his teammates...if shocky wuz heading into a dark alley in a sketchy neighborhood at 1:39 am to assist with a wounded moms doggy dog rescue mission he would want #7 with him for sure, luv that guy!!

so a 4.0 gpa former top 100 prospect with 6'6" length like the x-man that wuz recruited by miami, georgia, etc. makes a lotta sense in the monster's opinion but agreed that transparent conversations need to happen re: one's love/dedication for the violent game of football

the light goes on at different points in time for different people, neither david or xavier did **** until they got mentored/developed/coached up by vic

not everybody on planet earth wants to knock the **** outta other people and that's a good thing

cal's monster class message to the 2025 tropical thunder BIG 3 of aiden, lebron & jaron along with honorary members ben & tofi:

once u settle into the beautiful berkeley campus this summer, let's plan a roadtrip (shocky will play pasatiempo as the 1st out before the dawn & then meet up with u at mavericks that afternoon) 90 minutes south to santa cruz with the poly brahs like ej, stan, cade, aidan, meeks, benji, jaydn, sioape, etc. to check out the home of the largest documented waves on PLANET EARTH!!

maybe ask benji (with rolo as griller2 on stand by) to grill some bbq afterwards (with maybe a 1 drink max for some guys) & then work on our head/handstands afterwards (wut could possibly go wrong)??

6956, shocks understands (but disagrees with) the florida state commitment...sub 3.0 gpa would've required a silver bullet admissions waiver & just had a baby...elijah got a lot on his plate right now & by not prioritizing academics is going down a path in the florida project that utlimately probably ends at the tallahassee waffle house

2025 pga tournament at kapalua plantation: 4th round update

with a natural smile on his face & competing with a healthy FUN attitude (golf is just a game, there are a lotta homeless people/doggy dogs in the world who are struggling right now to find food/a roof over their heads) collin morikawa shot a 67 & an intergalactic 32 under par (leading the field with 66 of 72 greens hit in regulation, 91.7%)...yeah the world's #4 ranked player with a new mindset to stay mentally focused on every shot like tiger back in the day is gonna compete in 2025 for a historic 3rd championship in the majors!!

finishing 4th in the field in ball striking (hitting 63 of 72 greens in regulation, 87.5%) with his new equipment scottsdale's max homa looks good & more importantly is playing great starting 2025 with a 68 & finishing a fantastic 19 under par...max's game is sharp enough right now to win on the 2025 west coast swing of the pga tour!!

starting on the 10th tee with 5 birdies on his first 6 holes ben an shot a 67 & finished a strong 16 under par...fun fact: today on the dramatically downhill par 4 1st hole ben played the tee shot with a conventional line off the tee box, yesterday's 150+ yard offline drive wuz a function of strategically tryna play the hole down the 9th fairway...ben will playing next week in diamond head with fellow bears michael kim & james hahn

Isn't Arky St. the same vaunted college degree held by Arkansas governor Sarah Suckabee Sanders, if I'm not mistaken?
Nope, my bad. It was Ouachita Baptist University (with the 95% acceptance rate) in Arkadelphia, Arkansas. Six of one, half dozen of the other.

I disagree. If he's not going to get to play here, and we keep recruiting over him, he now likely has a guaranteed season to prove his worth and can transfer again if he finds success. It's a gamble for sure, but only when compared to a Cal degree. If you're a player, you have to get a chance to play somewhere to prove your worth. Kickers are analyzed in a vacuum. It doesn't really matter what team you're on, field goals and PATs or kickoffs and punts are all that matter. Maybe the snapper, holder and linemen, but that evens out at every level. I hope he breaks records there, gets pro opportunities and also transfers again to a top college. Wish him well.

apparently bobby englstler (3 colleges in 3 years, marginally talented athletically) wuz raised by wolves, there's literally no parent (with the exception of the walton family of deep south walmart wealth) on planet earth that would sign off on their son trading a berkeley degree for an arkansas state degree

above departure list updated to reflect this portal transfer
hahaha what a terrible decision

It's horrific decision-making. You said it yourself, a specialist's performance is almost entirely individual and divorced from the team context. This is not a case where a player's talents are hidden because the scheme he's playing in doesn't suit his strengths. It's not a case of being buried behind top level players because there are no punters on the current roster.

What is a reasonably obtainable outcome for a punter who can't compete in an empty room? Which of those are likely to present a greater value than a Cal degree? NIL for an average punter is basically "NIL". Even if he becomes quite productive, there are only 32 punters in the NFL at a given time with many more vets floating around out there waiting for a call. There is minimal chance of any upside and a whole lot of downside.

concerned, u make a lotta good points, bobby can't even compete in an empty room!!

theoretically u could be the punter at the massachusetts institute of technology & still be drafted if u can punt it 70+ yards in the air (15 yard deep snap & 55 yards from the line of scrimmage) at the mit pro day/nfl combine because of the nfl evaluation metrics involved in scouting that position

shocky has closely watched englstler punt in the 75 minutes pre game special teams warm ups, it's kinda like watching a 2 handicap golfer hit balls on the range & then tell u that they wanna play on the pga tour, not gonna happen amigo

it's good to have dreams in life but trading in a berkeley degree for an arkansas state degree is just dumb as ****

we gotta respect bobby's decision tho so with being said nothing but best wishes for bobby in his future endeavors washing dishes & flattening boxes at the little rock waffle house!!

flounder, did u know that aiden lee attended "Cal University??"

u could not make this **** up

yeah since throwing away a berkeley degree, aiden has attended garden city community college, minot state, bluefield state & is now in the portal for his final year of eligibility...the 4.8 40/sub 3.0 gpa wideout/running back got no offers at this time & there's virtually no way for him to earn a college degree at this point with his scrambled transcripts

leidy (grew up in cuba) also don't gotta college degree but not all of life's rules apply to them FUN curvy brunette yoga females in their pursuits of generational wealth

Tough to be hard on Aidan. Cal was by far his best offer coming out of high school (only offered by FCS schools), and it's clear both he and the staff realized he wasn't an FBS talent. Given the choice of getting a Berkeley degree and giving up on football, I can see why he transferred.

By the way, the hit rate on the 2020 recruiting class was pretty awful. 3 reliable starters out of 25. Those guys would all be in their last year of eligibility now assuming a red shirt.
