2025 crosby in the monterey peninsula: 2nd round update
collin morikawa (67 at pebble beach, tied for 13th): another outstanding ball striking round (morikawa is 2nd in the field in driving accuracy hitting 21 of 28 fairways thus far) with only 2 mistakes, pulled missed 5 foot birdie putts on the par 5 6th hole (after hitting the green in 2 to 25 feet but raced his uphill 1st putt by the hole) & the par 5 14th hole (after a 3 foot world class flop shot downhill towards the ocean)
morikawa's ony wayward drive of the day wuz on the par 5 2nd hole when he pulled his drive into an island of deep rough in the middle of the fairway bunker guarding the left side of the landing zone...after in-depth discussing shot shapes with caddie jj, collin hit an UNREAL 4 iron outta the rough, over a couple of cypress trees & the deep barranca to almost the front of the green for a simple pitch up & down birdie 4, wowza!!
collin has now played all 6 of his 2025 pga tournament rounds in the 60s, his elite ball striking will give him an advantage over the rest of the field tomorrow (paired up with rory) in the expected inclement cold & windy weather...it's igloo beanie weather brah!!
ben an (69 at pebble beach, tied for 47th): after a clean scorecard with 4 birdies the storm system blew in on his final hole which resulted in a bogey 5 on the par 4 9th hole at pebble...ben either made a really bad swing or wuz strategically tryna play his drive down the 8th hole fairway on his drive on the par 5 6th hole & ended up with a disappointing par, will be interesting to see what line an takes off this tee tomorrow
max homa (72 at spyglass hill, tied for 66th): max is still trying to synch up his swing on his driver (last in the field in driving accuracy hitting only 11 of 28 fairways)...homa's conditioning is the best it's ever been this year, he looks like a promising dodgers prospect these days!!
tomorrow is the 1st of two 2026 junior days headlined by cal commit jaydn crowder, 30+ prospects (several already profiled on this monster thread) plus a couple of 2027 prospects will be visiting campus/memorial stadium this weekend before the february dead period as part of this important evaluation process which works both ways...the 2nd 2026 junior day will be later this spring
expecting the staff to sign 12-15 high school prospects in the 2026 class, schollys will be at a premium with the recent ncca ruling expanding junior college eligibility
relationships will be an important factor in determining actionable vs conditional offers, r u a high character young man that can be trusted to relentlessly work hard & do the right things (without being asked/monitored)??
yeah gpas are a really important component of the recruiting evaluation process at the #1 ranked public university in the world!!
^ not listing ur gpa in ur social media is an academic red flag that most likely ur gpa is under 3.0
fun fact: a cal, stanford or ivy league degree is a priceless 1st step in building GENERATIONAL WEALTH in a fiercely competitive global economy that ignores worthless diplomas from football factories

https://instagr.am/p/DFQzcw0yyBh bluehen, let's extend a warm welcome to new assistant offensive line & tight ends coach (he will be assisting both meeks & saffell) jeff mcdaniels...jeff is berkeley smart as **** with an undergrad degree in psychology (he's gonna need it to convince pretty boy elite pass catcher jack endries to actually violently BLOCK in football games in order to get PAID in the national football league) from davidson followed by 2 masters degrees from old dominion & texas state (this guy is way smarter than rolo & harsin for sure bro)
yeah there wuz candidates that shocky liked better but whatever
https://instagr.am/p/CTNjeP6h-JJ mike is low key still the bears tight end coach & one hundo like the future head coach in training once wilcox strokes out trying to shred or something, recruiting is best done by young dudes (and not some randos) like the haas biz ad grad with ginger hair tho it should be pointed out that saffell does NOT burn hard with molly at the kickback next to dunc surf shop, got it bro??
tommy, NOBODY in the 2026 class is guaranteed getting paid in the nfl and unlike basketball there's no future income opportunities in international football leagues
so is it worth the financial risk tryna earn a kinda worthless oregon degree when u can stay home at the #1 public university in the world in the bay with ur bro ensuring a bright future & make fall gameday travel for ur moms & dad FUN without splitting up the fam??
what r ur priorities in life & how do see ur life at age 30??...have u evah lived in a box under the overpass for the i-280??
2025 crosby in the monterey peninsula: 3rd round update
collin morikawa (71, tied for 15th): after 2 putting from 80+ feet on the hourglass shaped 17th green at pebble beach) collin made the GREATEST PAR OF HIS LIFE!!
standing on the iconic 18th tee with brutal 30 mph+ left to right winds morikawa appeared to slice his drive & then a provisional outta bounds but his original tee ball wuz found in a thorny bush hedge literally inches from outta bounds...so collin throws that dinged up ball to a young fan which gets an audible group "ahhh" from the surrounding crowd & then after his 2 club length penalty drop opts to play the ball off the concrete cart path...morikawa gets the ball back in play on his 3rd shot, hits a 90 yard 4th shot 10 feet below the hole to a back pin position, then dramatically drains the par putt for an epic 5 & then joyfully heaves his golf ball into the pacific ocean!!
ben an (72, tied for 52nd): even elite professional golfers are human like the rest of us & prone to doing stupid **** when they're upset on the course...after a dumb azz 3 putt bogey 5 on the par 4 15th hole, ben opted to recklessly hit driver on the par 4 16th hole to burn off steam & then smoked his drive 342 yards to the sand barranca guarding the front of the green & made par...rrrrrrh
max homa (70, tied for 60th): really mentally strong round in the inclement weather, very encouraging wuz the more accurate driving hitting 9 out of 14 fairways after hitting only 11 fairways the first 2 days...another good driving day maΓ±ana would be a very good sign that max is gonna be ready to compete next week when he returns home to scottsdale for the phoenix open

2026 6'3" 289 lbs ELITE defensive tackle nemyah talon from delasalle high school#
the university of california, berkeley=#1 ranked public university in the world (for independent thinkers that know that tosh tells the truth 17% of the time)
^ not so fun fact: bullied in high school by mean girls
recruiting update: unfortunately longwell wants to bring in "his guy" who got a "big leg"
https://instagr.am/p/ClhkufZvM46 the university of california, berkeley=#1 ranked public university in the world (for those like shocky that believe in the redistribution of wealth in ibiza & the united states of america thru elite educational opportunities for 1st generation college degree students like my berkeley grad moms at cal, stanford & the ivy leagues)
^ one hundo easy doggy dog & that's why 2026 nemyah telona got an actionable offer but also keep in mind that all our current d-linemen including playmakers nate burrell & aidan keanaiina are gonna significantly benefit from the 1000% more intense s&c program now that novak has made it out of lansing after all that happened, after michigan state after hubbard, joy road but the money long as six mile
tj bollers wanted on parole in two states can't wrong, even jaydn and the jet can't even be in public at hockey games with their hoodies on, michigan state don't want novak there but they don't know what he on, acc opponents pray on the bears downfall but in the fall of 2025 on ten paws we stood tall
2028 3.8 gpa 6'6" 200 lbs outside backer elijah tuua from powerhouse folsom high school#
the university of california, berkeley=#1 ranked public university in the world (for those that wanna build generational wealth thru nfl development in the acc & hard work in the classrooms of berkeley)
(left to right): lola "where's the salmon poke??" donez, jayda "an icy sneakerhead" noble, gabrielle "not afraid" abigor, gisella "instant offense" maul, kamryn "let it fly" mafua, anastasia "mykonos ponytail" drosouni & zahra "brooklyn bridge" king
california golden bears 84 pittsburgh panthers 53
ugonne foul watch: defensive bump on faye 4 minutes into the game & subbed out rest of 1st quarter, low post defensive foul in the 3rd quarter, onyiah with only 2 fouls in outplaying faye
DEFENSE: en fuego shooting comes & go at times but relentlessly physical DEFENSE wins basketball games!!
lulu: better team ball movement & the extra unselfish passes allowed our favorite australian to let it fly & get back in a shooting rhythm...funny when the splash sisters talk **** they cover their mouths with their hands!!
turnovers watch: luv how charmin benched kayla for most of the 1st quarter after a couple of mentally sloppy decisions, gotta reinforce the message that **** won't work against elite teams...turnovers are usually a function of a dumb decision which will result in a **** situation against nationally ranked teams particularly on the road
technical: wuz due to the failure of the cal athletic department gameday staff not properly having all electronics functional prior to the game, there is zero accountability in general knowlton's world
next game: the 19-4 bears got a ncca hosting elimination game next thursday vs jayda curry's louisville cardinals before sunday's 2nd game of the road trip at #3 notre dame
ben an (66, tied for 22nd): despite his final hole of the day bogey 5 on the par 4 9th, ben's clubhead speed is ******* unreal including a 322 yard drive on the par 5 18th hole hugging the coastline barrier wall which resulted in an eagle 3...an is gonna get his 1st pga victory sooner than later!!
max homa (69, tied for 53rd): if max can clean up the driving accuracy (his misses are over the top pulls to the left, missed 17 fairways this week) homa's scrambling/putting is on point kinda like his 2025 wardrobe (shocky hated the ugly as **** mastercard logo on the collar of his shirts, adios to that ****)
https://instagr.am/p/Ce68RmyvS3V fun fact: ben, max & michael kim will compete in this week's crazy azz festivities at the phoenix open in north scottsdale while collin gives his rescue doggy dog koa extra walks back home in las vegas (and it's no state income tax)
wut up napa, wut's ur favorite order on gamedays at top dog??
that's not the monster in those fotos, if shocky (almost never misses his daily 32 oz green juice, he poops like a racehorse named uranus which is important for gut/core health!!) could only read/recommend 1 golf architecture book it would unquestionably be tom doak's confidential guide series with brutally honest worldwide course reviews
https://instagr.am/p/BqNpqxLlFZi save me a spot next time ur ordering the truffle angel hair pasta at bouchon (doggy dogs always welcome on the patio) after bicycling to ur morning class at shocky's upcoming t-rex yoga/meditation studio in yountville followed by a twilite walking round at brambles, ok?
real talk: dr michael hurdzan is not that talented, my bro dana fry actually does all the work in the field & eventually left his partnership with hurdzan in order to start his own firm & design the fabulous calusa pines in naples which is as good as anything in florida other than the intergalactically fantastic seminole and my idol bill coore's streamsong red
latest installment of the worthless Knowlton Knows Nothing Notes:
zero financial information as usual re: the tens of million of dollars being borrowed & the complete lack of financial austerity by the cal athletic department
why is jimbo traveling to the men's basketball game vs smu in dallas when he's the least knowledgeable basketball athletic director in the nation who mind boggling extended the unlikeable mark fox another season & then had to spend millions to buy his contract out a year later after a 3-29 season??
instead of wasting more money flying around why doesn't he focus on solutions to the basketball attendance PROBLEMS at haas pavillion??...the #19 ranked women's team had 2,733 attendance today & the men's team is 17th in the 18th team acc with an abysmal 3,788 attendance average this season
is the pathological lying con artist still telling everybody that shovels in the ground are "imminent" for the critically needed basketball practice facility??
when is knowlton gonna offer FREE tixs to all students for all football & basketball games in order to build a pipeline of future Builders of Berkeley??...this needs to happen TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the truth of the matter is that with the financial tsunami heading towards berkeley the athletic department cannot afford 30+ teams, cutting teams including baseball/relegating multiple teams including rugby to club status & rightsizing the department to 15 programs is the only viable option:
1) football 2) men's basketball 3) men's golf (the most endowed program in berkeley including football) 4) men's tennis 5) men's swimming & diving 6) men's water polo 7) women's basketball 8) women's softball 9) women's gymnastics 10) women's golf 11) women's tennis 12) women's swimming & diving 13) women's water polo 14) women's volleyball 15) women's beach volleyball
andrew mcgraw will lead a NEW reimagined athletic department that is football first focused & the valuable land for evans diamond & edwards stadium would be repurposed for the greater good of the university with an internal accounting reduction/elimination of the athletic department out of control debt
yeah so when is chancellor lyons gonna green light dan mogulof to terminate general knowlton??
cal needs rugby. i enjoyed seeing those 100+-0 box scores the last few weekends. can't get rid of that (though if i'm honest i'm not sure where they are vis a vis varsity vs club or what have you)

we're all waiting on you, rich
There is one women's sport at Cal with an endowed HC position, and that's Field Hockey. If you want to be honest (you don't have to, it's your post) at least say this is with your heart. Also, the elimination of Field Hockey doesn't open up any facilities for another sport, nor for campus housing....the very specific field is on top of Underhill... Also a big sport in the ACC...
Nope, that one's mine. I have a big golf book collection. I usually bring something to read in case of excessive time outs. Also, sausages are healthy once you add the sauerkraut.
Nope. You must've been right in front or right behind me in line. I put the book there while waiting for my order (brat, Kiel, smoked chicken apple). Among his many faults, the lousy concessions Col. Knowlton provides at the gym require me to bring dinner in.
Also, I endorse Shocky's rec of Doak's books. There a good way figure out where to play on the road, if you don't have Shocky's contacts.
jeff, that's awesome your a student of golf course architecture too, it's a lifelong quest for knowledge/new experiences that for shocky started as a caddie at san francisco golf club back in the summers during his stinson beach high school & berkeley days
what are your top 3 kinda hidden gems (public or private) that you feel are not well recognized/off the radar??
my nor cal favorite hidden gem is alistar mackenzie's dreamlike northwood on the russian river with the tallest trees on a golf course on planet earth & only 28 bucks to walk!!...runner ups: morro bay (42 bucks) & the golden gate park par 3 course (23 bucks for sf residents)
cal needs rugby. i enjoyed seeing those 100+-0 box scores the last few weekends. can't get rid of that (though if i'm honest i'm not sure where they are vis a vis varsity vs club or what have you)
https://instagr.am/p/C4lL6Z0Ldvs benny, agreed that cal rugby should continue but with 62 counters(which is an important metric for title ix compliance) that it needs to be reclassified as a club sport moving forward...the bears can still compete for national championships
one of the many myths perpetuated by the cal athletic department is that rugby is financially self sustaining, that is 100% not true

https://instagr.am/p/C_MfZlcPoE2 mb, unfortunately the financial reality is that there are also the salaries of 2 assistant coaches plus the travel costs to the east coast since the majority of the women's field hockey opponents are on the east coast (agreed it's a big sport in the acc with the affluent prep schools in the region that play the sport)
like rugby, women's field hockey needs to be reclassified as a club sport & play west coast schools within driving distances
the financial tsunami heading towards berkeley is gonna require some tough cost savings measure, that's just the reality of the situation
fyi, my daughter shay played field hockey at notre dame high school in north scottsdale, not a hater of the sport but let's be real here, the overwhelming majority of the young ladies playing this prep school sport are white & from very affluent wealthy enclaves (they don't need the schollys to attend berkeley, their families just want their daughters be tagged for special admissions acceptance)
