Anyone else nervous about tomorrow?

There is always a twist when Cal plays a team it should beat. Last year, the COVID scandal against AZ.

This year, we play on the road to Colorado on their "family day" which apparently is now close to a sell out. That team might just get pumped.

The biggest question in my mind, is that if we lose this game, do Knowlton and Wilcox get a bigger extension?

I am always nervous. The only time I am not nervous about a Cal football game is when the ineptitude of the team during a season has beaten me into submission and surrender, and I just peacefully assume we will embarrass ourselves. Not quite there yet this season.

Haha - well said and I guess your sentiments are shared by most Cal fans

If you follow Cal football long enough you stop hoping and become a hardcore realist.
I'm not worried about family day.
I'm worried about the fact they finally settled on a decent QB and that the interim coach is likely to be a huge improvement over what they had.

I became not nervous in a positive way sometime during the game at Air Force in 2004. I could tell things were different with that team and we were really good. Still searching for that feeling again.

Come on, Cal fans nervous? You don't have to go back too far - looking for yellow flags whenever we score a TD, or like with Holmoe - counting players to make sure we only had 11! Even more real for me is NEVER feeling confident even when winning by two TDs until the last seconds of the game. Many times my family had to watch me close my eyes and bury my head in my knees during the 4th quarter at CMS until actually winning. Yes, Colorado is ripe for a big game.

Nervous? No... but low expectations will do that.

No, But then again I said this team would win 7 games.

There's a point, where having zero expectations can "set one free". I've tried it a few times over the years but evidently not hard enough.
Ever hopeful and it seems like forever.

You can check out, but you never can leave.

Almost all teams are rusty coming off a bye week. At least for the first qtr. We should be ready for that. Less rust for a running team than passing. Timing's not so critical. If Plummer's still dinged, run a lotta RPO with Milner. But, you didn't need me to suggest that.

Punch 'em in the mouth from the outset and let them know their fate is sealed.

The players must understand by now that we are deep enough to substitute if you don't ball out to your potential.

I guess I'll be the voice of doom and say that I'm not worried.

Cal is going to beat teams that don't have a strong front 7. The skilled position players (especially Ott) are too good.

But cal will struggle against teams that do have a strong front 7 where the o-line simply gets overwhelmed. It's as simple as that.

My nerves are about Plummer - he's a tough kid but he can only take so much before some area of body injury occurs. Particularly worried that whatever happened against WSU is more of a thing than we realize and during warmups tomorrow someone at the game will post like "Plummer is sailing a lot of balls! He keeps shaking his hand!" and then Musgrave still calls 900 sideline fades while we all scream. But other than that I'm feeling good.

True - and not even just physical injury, all these hits must surely be getting into his head leading to more rushed throws, overthrows, and worst of all INTs.

I am not worried. I fully expect we will win by at least two TDs. However, if we lose I would not be too surprised. Moreover, most agree that all that we have at stake is the chance to go 6-6. I am not going to stress about that. I'd strangely be more nervous if we had narrowly beaten Notre Dame and WSU.

If we win, then I might start getting nervous again.

I remember before this game I was extremely nervous. Air Force ran that unconventional option offense and even though I thought that Cal should have a good team there was the possibility that they would have problems with this. And, if I remember correctly, they did to a certain extent. But I think I remember that the Air Force quarterback, who ran the offense to perfection, went out with an injury. Cal pulled away and demonstrated that they had a great team but it could have been a lot closer. And certainly the bowl game debacle against Texas Tech after being screwed out of the Rose Bowl showed the danger of going against an unfamiliar offensive scheme.

Buffs can't stop anything and their offense is 2nd-worst in Power 5 (only team more dreadful offensively is Iowa), other than that they are in great shape to get blown out tomorrow.

Colorado scored 13 in regulation, their offense still stunk yet we managed to **** the bed.
