Over the years, Wilcox has been one of the most boring coaches to ever be behind a microphone in the Pac-12. The only other coach who could even compete in terms of being boring was David Shaw. With Shaw retired, Cal Strong suspected that Wilcox would perhaps be more boring than ever.

But that wasn't the case. Cal Strong just finished watching the video of Wilcox at Media Day. Wilcox definitely increased his enthusiasm and relatability. Not by a mile. But it was certainly a good step up. Maybe an 8-12% increase?

It sort of reminded Cal Strong of when Jeb Bush was getting crushed in the primaries, and his advisors told him to drink coffee and try to act awake in his final debate before dropping out.

Cal Strong found it very weird that they played pump-up music several times in the middle of the interview. Do they do that with all the coaches, or did they think they would probably need it just for Wilcox based on his past interviews?

Mike Leach was the best at media days. Wilcox will never be Mike Leach. But while this was certainly an improvement, Cal Strong wonder what the advantage we gain by sending Wilcox to these things.

Wouldn't it be better to find a strong and enthusiastic representative to do these media engagements for the remainder of Wilcox's tenure?

Wilcox has a lot of flaws. But overall he is only slightly worse than mediocre at coaching football. But when it comes to media and promoting the program, he absolutely terrible. So maybe Cal should let someone else do the media stuff, and leave him to worry about coaching. Maybe someone already on staff like Malik McMorris? Or an alumnus like Marshawn or Follett? Or a media genius and Cal enthusiast like Kate Scott or Cal Strong?

Cal Strong really can't decide who was more boring/useless with the media: Tedford or Wilcox.

Cal Strong think "we need to do better" Wilcox is objectively less dynamic than "they were really flying around out there" Tedford.

But Coach Tedford's incompetence with the media -- though not quite as bad as Wilcox -- cost us a Rose Bowl. Wilcox has never been a good enough on-the-field football coach for his media incompetence to ever cost us anything as big as that.

So Cal Strong guess it a tie.

Actually, Cal Strong now remember that early Tedford -- despite the massive and unforgivable media screw up in 2004 -- did have a few media wins. That ESPN video on his upbringing really let people into his life in a way that Wilcox never has. And the "Our Domicile" video was very strong.

Oakbear posting weak today . . . he flying around out there calling out Cal Strong with weak slams.

He also weak at writing. He smush words together and fail to capitalize our coach's surname. Maybe he suffered from upper body injury during Comp 1A.

Be more like Cal, Oakbear. Be less like you.

Cal Strong should, of all people, know that it very hard to change one's schtick/public persona, no matter how bad it is.

Hmmm. Wilcox very boring in front of media. This perfectly and painfully clear.

Wilcox has been here for 7 years. Not one of you weaklings has ever started a thread about this, or even has an argument as why this isn't the case.

But weak and boring posters, falling back on their tired old schtick about Cal Strong supposedly having a schtick, come up with weak and poorly-written slams about Cal Strong.

Here a bit of advice from someone who can help you stop being weak:

1. Take a hard look in the mirror. Realize you are weak and obsessed with weakly slamming Cal Strong who exposed your weakness.

2. Stop being weak. Just stop it. It not helping you. And it not helping Cal.

3. Take a hard look at Cal. Cal not weak. Cal not boring. Cal strongest university on earth. Cal no have losing record in non-athletics. Cal routinely in top-5 or #1 in nearly every academic department. Be more like Cal, less like you.

4. Start being strong. Go to the gym. Do pushups. Help others. Eat healthy foods like smoothies. Take a shower. Volunteer in the community. Read strong UP books and strong novels. Learn Latin or another strong language. Be a strong and chivalrous gentleman and treat women with respect. Hold the door open for others. Pick up that grape or chip you dropped in the office. Be a strong Golden Bear. It not someone else's responsibility to pick up your mess in the office. Buy coffee or smoothie for co-workers to make up for and apologize for being so weak in the office. Explain to them that you are strong now.

5. Now that you strong, go help weak posters make the same change you just made.

Since I have him on ignore I was wondering what was in the thread with the title. Every reply to his opinion/thoughts was "Give it a rest".

This thread once again proves that Cal Strong! is the Justin Wilcox of BI.

Same old weak and boring schtick by weak posters, weakly slamming strong and creative insights they never thought of.

See Cal Strong's post above. You no need to be weak, bored, and scared your whole lives. You can be more like Cal. You can think original thoughts and earn the respect of your friends and family too. There no need for everyone in your lives to have such a low view of you. You just need to stop being weak and follow the program to be strong.
