How much misdirection was there? Quick tempo, change of pace, etc.?

Do we lose 52-0 next week?
UW's QB Penix had 4 TD's and 375 yards at the HALF.
Michigan State's defense is not good.

When people here rave about a player who has never thrown an incomplete pass in his roll as a backup to the number two team in the country, well, some folks believe that nonsense. Strong was very strong in his skepticism.cubzwin said:
A lot of people are giving up on Sam Jackson too soon. He's had about a half dozen starts and only 2 in this offense. Some real good quarterbacks took a while to master the college game. Maybe wait and see if he improves?
Michigan Stare only gave up six points to Washington in the second half today. Blue sky.BearHunter said:
Cal got outgained which is concerning. But credit to them, they made defensive adjustments at halftime and shut out Idaho like they did with North Texas.
In three games, the Cal defense has only given up 7 points in the 2nd half.

Maybe Stanford. Maybe.
Do me a favor. If you are just going to spam negativity, please dont. I know this game wasnt great, and yes, I'm concerned about when the next win will happen but I'm tired everyone ****ting on everything at all times. I'm tired of being surrounded by constant negativity.

Then why don't you just stay away from BI for awhile. Face it, there is just nothing positive about Cal football right now.

When will Wilcox ever get fired……. It's criminal to be paying a coach this much money with below .500 average winning.
And why is this kicker still on the team…..
Thanks to Knowlton, if we fire Wilcox after this season it would cost $20 million. And this with Knowlton already borrowing $20 million a year and about to take a $20 million (?) revenue decrease with an increase in travel expenses.

A stupid comment from a stupid doom-spammer.
Positives:
1. Cal won
2. Jackson showed something with his legs on that 27 yard run.
3. Ifanse and Stredick both played well.
4. Defense made adjustments.
5. Jackson showed good arm strength on the TD to Grizzel.
Boom! Proved you wrong.
Was it a good game? No. Was it a win, yes. Am I confident about winning in the future, no. Do I want to tolerate some jack hole go off the deep end with negativity, no.

Credit where credit is due - the Bear neither quit nor died. I'll take the win, but the offense is a work in progress.
It's the typical Wilcox playbook for the patsy game at home. We come out of the gates playing a vanilla scheme and with low energy. Time to stop being surprised about it.
Usually we wind up getting our s*** together enough to win. Sometimes we drop one to Nevada.
Now in fairness to Idaho, they do appear to be a legitimately good FCS team this year.

And we did score 31 unanswered points. There's that. Down 17-0 was awful and awfully disheartening. But the guys didn't exactly quit, did they?
I'm certainly not giving up on him, but I think it would be a good idea to have at least a few planned packages for Finley too. It makes sense to give him at least a few reps, both because he's still got a lot of time to develop for the future, and because we need a reliable backup in case Jackson goes down again this year.cubzwin said:

While I agree, Finley did nothing against Auburn.OsoDorado said:I'm certainly not giving up on him, but I think it would be a good idea to have at least a few planned packages for Finley too. I take your point, but it's not how a "patsy" game should work. Ideally, a game like this should be in-hand (2+ scores) by the half and by 4Q every starter should be on the bench. We let these teams keep it way too close for way too long.

Besides Ott and Jackson's legs we have no play makers on either side of the ball.killa22 said:

I think we have an offensive line that has taken fan chit for years that is playing much, much better this year and has some depth. I think we have some linebackers that are making some nice plays. What are you talking about, the first quarter???GoOskie said:Besides Ott and Jackson's legs we have no play makers on either side of the ball.killa22 said:

As a unit the D is playing well. I just meant there are no stand out play makers. And though the Oline is better, I'm still concerned about the run blocking and allowing so much pressure on Jackson.OdontoBear66 said:I think we have an offensive line that has taken fan chit for years that is playing much, much better this year and has some depth.
