How did that portal move pan out for him, eh?
No need to pile on J Mike. He still probably made more NIL money that he ever would at Cal. However, he would have been a star here and raised his prospect profile, instead of now mired in underachievement at UCLA. We all have to make our own choices and live with them.ArchiBear76 said:

it turned out that the quality of his play was overestimated in the first place...except by him. He wasn't any more productive for them than he was for us.southseasbear said:

LOL, I wonder how QB Milner's doing at Northern Arizona. And that degree is something everyone seeks........to avoid. However apparently Plummer made the right decision, for him.HearstMining said:

I was curious, so I looked up Kai Millner's stats. He played 3 games for Northern Arizona. They were the first three, so I'm guessing he was injured, as he appears to have started at least the first two. He finished at 38-64-1 with 2 TDs and 458 yards. He also rushed 26 times for 99 yards and 1 TD. One of the two games was against Arizona, so that held his stats down. He did much better the next week against North Dakota, which made the FCS playoffs, though they lost yesterday to Sacramento State.heartofthebear said:LOL, I wonder how QB Milner's doing at Northern Arizona. The story going around last summer was that UCLA offered JMS twice the NIL money that Cal offered, but once he enrolled, UCLA apparently didn't enough NIL money to cover all their promises. So, the word was that JMS only got half the NIL money he was promised and in the end, it wasn't very different from what Cal offered. Sebastabear can probably say whether this was true or not.KoreAmBear said:No need to pile on J Mike. He still probably made more NIL money that he ever would at Cal. It's a very charitable interpretation to assume neither Sturdivant nor his street "agent" trainer knew the ballpark of the real numbers.calgldnbear said:Eastern Oregon Bear said:The story going around last summer was that UCLA offered JMS twice the NIL money that Cal offered, but once he enrolled, UCLA apparently didn't enough NIL money to cover all their promises. Isn't that called "Bait and Switch" ???
Thanks but not impressed with the stats.Eastern Oregon Bear said:I was curious, so I looked up Kai Millner's stats. He played 3 games for Northern Arizona. Story is somewhat worse than that from the JMS side. We were probably matching or exceeding UCLA even BEFORE they reneged on him. I traded texts with him the night before he entered saying I had a new NIL offer I'd like to give him. He said "great". I said "Can I call you" and then there was radio silence. Followed up repeatedly (as did others). Nothing. My suspicion is his dad locked this down. And then he was gone.Eastern Oregon Bear said:The story going around last summer was that UCLA offered JMS twice the NIL money that Cal offered, but once he enrolled, UCLA apparently didn't enough NIL money to cover all their promises. You did predict it. I remember your post and how it reassured me when I thought the news of JMS transferring to Southern Branch was a sign that the sky was falling. You were right: Hunter is the better receiver. And we may be better off without JMS and the baggage he was carrying. Let's see how he likes playing in late fall in the Midwest.WalterSobchak said:
There is absolutely reason to pile on Sturdivant. He and his "crew" actively tried to sabotage our program. He not only used fake numbers to try to extort our NIL, he also tried to falsely induce Ott and Hunter to join him at fucla. For his efforts he got to watch his numbers decline significantly (who could have ever predicted that?):
Receptions: 65 to 32
Yards: 755 to 455
TD: 7 to 3
All against one of the softest schedules in the country. Ucla didn't play UW or Oregon. They did't beat a P5 team with a winning record except USC, who is in freefall. They didn't win a single game outside California. The only team they beat outside of Southern California was 3-9 Stanford.
Sturdivant had 10 of his 32 receptions (31%), 190 of his receiving yards (41%), and 2 of his 3 TDs (66%) against Coastal Carolina and Stanford.
Sturdivant got outperformed by the unrecruited walk-on who replaced him. So, congrats to Trond and yikes to Sturdivant lol.
Go Bears! f ucla
Glad it helped. I just hated seeing the false narrative that Ucla stole our best WR and LB when neither was remotely true.southseasbear said:

Maybe the money was greener?

nah, as lame as greg poppovich telling fans not to boo. this era of college football is a business and the dude made a business decision for himself at the expense of cal. glad to see him have a far worse season. cal fans don't owe him a thing.

At the end of last year I was surprised that Milner bolted so quickly. The way things turned out the 5* Jackson hyped recruit fizzled and so did the #2 backup Finley.
The door was open for Mendoza. Woulda coulda shoulda been Milner.
