Penix was off because Michigan's DL made him off.

Washington's offense worked entirely through the OL. The OL dominated every team they played, including Texas in the semis and the entire Pac12. With that dominant OL Penix was able to get into a groove, settle down, and make amazing throws.

Michigan took away Washingtons biggest advantage and the rest of the team crumbled. The pressure they got with 4 rushers was insane.

Thank You.

It's shocking to see so many posters completely miss this ^^^
Their simpleton analysis comes down to blaming Penix when his OLine couldnt stop their grandmother.
They clearly didnt watch him play at all this season.

CAL hasn't put any pressure on opposing QB's since the Tedford years.
That's why we lose. We make average quarterbacks look like John Elway.
And Andrew Browning is in his 5th season as the DLine coach.

It is shocking that you think a near 25 year old QB that folded under pressure will be a top 5 pick. I don't want to bet you $500. However, I will make this bet. If Penix goes top 5, I will never insult a poster (even generally) unless in response to being directly insulted by him or her. If Penix does not get picked top 5, you will do the same. Please accept before I withdraw the offer!

Given that you WELCHED on a previous bet last year in the OT Forum,
why would I even waste my time with your toddler like offer?

To be clear, Penix is a Top 5 QB pick in the draft.
Either pony up $500 or just STFU and go back to the OT forum defending Trump and his "buddies" like you do 24/7.

And to think that you've actually claimed to be "managing" a business.
No one with a brain believes that for a second.
Get real.

So other than being from Oregon and having played for Justin Wilcox at Boise State, why is Andrew Browning not questioned as DL coach? Seems to me we need a great recruiter in the role.

Very disappointed in the result of the National Champ game last night. Not surprised at the UM win, but very disappointed in the costly mistakes by the Dawgs.

Wait, you said, "I've got $500 that he goes in the Top 5.
Wanna play Big Guy?"

Now, you are saying he just has to be one of the top 5 QBs drafted? You certainly are stubborn and refuse to admit you were wrong.

I have never welched on a bet. You are again wrong but too stubborn and perhaps senile to realize it. This isn't about what my politics are, nor would I vote for Trump anyway. The board is a better place when you aren't posting like you are better than everyone and firebombing insults at everyone for no reason whatsoever. You can't even admit here that you are now changing your predicted Penix draft position.

I don't agree with oski003 often (if ever) but I have to agree that saying top 5 and top 5 QBs are two very very different things.

So which is it? Cause I don't think saying he's a top 5 QB is controversial at all.

I also think if you're so sure about penix being a top 5 pick, you shouldn't be betting your $500 here but in Vegas cause you'll get way better odds.

Watching this game, Okadyo noticed that the difference between these two teams and Cal boils down to three areas:

Their players are great at playing college football. Ours are pretty good.
Their coaches are great at coaching college football and one of them is a cheater. Ours aren't cheaters.
Their teams are good at winning college football games, especially against Tulsa, UNLV, East Carolina and Bowling Green and Rutgers. Ours are not.

As far as Okadyo can tell, these are the three issues we need to improve on in order to make the playoffs and then the National Championship game.

Yes, I withdrew the bet before the bet was made. The technicality matters. I had no intention of limiting the tainted candy to being specifically tracked to trick or treating. Having young school age children, I was thinking about the massive amounts of candy circulating around the community around Halloween. I withdrew it because I felt like I was being cornered into making a bet I never intended to make in the first place. It didn't feel right. Unit2 would have won the bet. These conversations happened prior to Halloween.

Are you done with your hissy fit?

Which of course was stark contrast to Cal's game with Washington. Cal let Penix get extremely comforatable before he set foot on the field. The job of the defense is to make the QB uncomforatable. Cal's defense seems to do the opposite, waiting for the opposing qb to make a mistake instead of forcing one. You could get away with that 20 years ago but you can't anymore, not with the current offenses and talent levels at QB throughout college football.

I don't believe that Wilcox/sirmon are so inept that they don't understand this. They just probably believe they simply don't have the personnel to play more aggressively.

I think Wilcox's bigger issue is not necessarily scheme but an inability to recruit/develop high impact pass rushers. As Michigan made clear, that's where the game is won or lost, and we've been deficient in the Dline for years. It's why the Niners spend their entire salary cap on Dlinenan. If you can rush 4 and get pressure, you're going to win.

So let's just pray Sebasta can bring in some high end talent at dline
Cal Strong disagree about Wilcox's main issue.

Cal Strong has noticed that his biggest problem is that he not good at being a college football coach. Once he fix that issue (or is replaced by someone who can), we will be in the playoffs.

Okadyo posting STRONG
Okaydo not posting weak, but not particularly strong either . . . like some of Cal's players.

Players:
Cal's players have gone 36-43 over the past seven years. That not "pretty good." Strongly granted, we have had a few very good players over this time period. But overall, our players are not very good at playing college football.

Coaches:
Cal Strong not convinced the Michigan staff acted exponentially worse than most staffs. But they received their punishment and had 5 different head coaches this year. Each of them had a stronger record than Wilcox. So if this is what one gets when one is a cheater, then Wilcox should get with the program.

Of course, that had nothing to do with them winning. If anything, it hurt them due to the penalties.

Team:
Their teams beat some strong teams like Oregon, Ohio State, Penn State, Alabama, Texas, Iowa, Utah, Oregon State, Arizona, etc.. They also defeated some teams that are not good at winning football . . . like Cal and the ones you mentioned.

Overall, they played 12 ranked teams and won 11 of those games.

Our team went 6-7. This included a 0-5 record against ranked opponents.

1) You don't know what welching means.
2) You are at the wrong here and hyperfocusing on something else, again with your m.o. being to attack someone.
3) man the hell up dude. You suck. How many threads do you want to wrongly call me a welcher on?
4) Penix is not a top 5 draft pick.

Actually 4 years for $180 million. But the guarantees are: $90 million for 24-25 and $10 million for 25-26.

Kirk Cousins will be 36 this season. They bring Penix in to sit behind Cousins this year and probably next, or next year starting with Cousins as backup security. Maybe Cousins actually plays until 40 and you have a Farve/Rodgers situation. More likely you are looking at a two year transition plan.

That's a terribly dumb summary.

UW's O Line was horrible vs Michigan's D Line. Michigan controlled the line of scrimmage and put pressure on Penix RUSHING ONLY 4.

You'd have to be an idiot to not concede that Penix was just awful tonight. Are you his father?

Well contract terms make this even more of a confusing pick. They needed so many defensive solutions. No one saw this pick coming. Still doesn't make sense to me
