It's laughable that Wilcox is on this list. No way in hell Washington will hire Wilcox. They're not that stupid.okaydo said:Names to watch for the Washington HC Position:

Jedd Fisch (Arizona)

Lance Leipold (Kansas)

Pete Carroll (Former Seahawks HC)
Justin Wilcox (Cal HC)
Willie Fritz (Houston HC)
Rhett Lashlee (SMU HC)
If it was me I would definitely stay at Oregon. Tremendous support but not as life-or-death as SEC, great talent and more to come, and above all, for me at least, it's Oregon and not Alabama. Eugene is a very nice town and the weather, while certainly wet in the winter, is so much better than Tuscaloosa. No hot and humid days sucking the life out of you. Why do you think so many of our recruits from Texas and the South praise the weather when they come to Cal?cal93 said:

No, but Cal would be stupid enough to believe that Udub offered Wilcox if his agent floated it to the media.Golden One said:It's laughable that Wilcox is on this list. No way in hell Washington will hire Wilcox. They're not that stupid.okaydo said:Names to watch for the Washington HC Position:

what about those who like it hot and humid? How about all the recruits from TX and the South who don't like the weather in the Bay and you never hear about it? (get my point?)Larno said:If it was me I would definitely stay at Oregon. Smart move, especially considering the possibility that the next UW coach might bring his own transfer QB along.
Justin Wilcox is NOT an option. The uDub fanbase thinks they deserve an elite coach, not a coach with a mediocre record.okaydo said:Names to watch for the Washington HC Position:

their coaching search should start and end with Grubb.
The conference was dead when USC left.bearsandgiants said:
This is delicious watching all of these dawgs melt down. They just played in the national championship. They get to join the big 10, they get free cash from alabama to hire another coach, and the fans are bawling and saying they're done with football and cancelling their season tickets?
what a bunch of you-know-whats. they deserve SO much worse after what they did to our conference. i hope they suffer mightily, but they won't.
We may be in a similar situation if Washington comes calling for the esteemed Justin Wilcox.bearsandgiants said:

Not only that but we have to extend jk tooCal Strong! said:Anonymous sources close to the program have leaked that UW has already made two offers to Justin Wilcox, and if we don't give him another big extension we are going to lose him.okaydo said:

And then Rivera to Cal????!!!!ducktilldeath said:

this is the most likely scenario. If Wilcox was willing to run through Cal w/ UO he could certainly do it again w/ Udub.
**** it, may as well. Jeff Tedford isn't walking through that door.JimSox said:And then Rivera to Cal????!!!!ducktilldeath said:

I am amazed that people seem to have forgotten that Wilcox has a buyout equal to his contract....or they just want to post garbage? Or am I missing all the sarcasm?Bobodeluxe said:We may be in a similar situation if Washington comes calling for the esteemed Justin Wilcox.bearsandgiants said:

Are you suggesting that Cal would require Justin to pay UC "his" buyout if he leaves? Nobody's interviewing Wilcox until Wilcox asks to reduce his buyout requirement, which equals his remaining contract terms. $20M.. That's the conundrum of the Wilcox contract.
Please people, let's be real
Of course (and the poaching school technically funds the buyout). Wilcox can't look to leave to get a better deal, that deal was already written. That's why he isn't going anywhere. When Wilcox's contract was renegotiated Cal had had some success (Red Box bowl) and the program was showing some signs of improvement. Yes, hindsight is always 20-20, but the contract is what it is. Hoping to have Wilcox fired or have another program hire him away at this point is a waste of time. Support him while he's here, as it won't likely change for at least another year or two either way. The contract is a two-way agreement. Obviously, a reduced negotiated amount could be reached at some point, but Alabama just paid UW a boatload of money to take Deboer. That's the business (and risks to both parties) and why buyouts are put into contracts. You're thinking Cal should just let Wilcox leave under Cal's current Athletic Dept. economic conditions? That won't happen.Bobodeluxe said:Are you suggesting that Cal would require Justin to pay UC "his" buyout if he leaves?
