Yeah, the comment section in that Reddit thread is pure gold. We've really started to change the narrative about Cal and athletics - and by we, I mean Sebastabear, the NIL donors and our play on the field.

I love the idea of the entire realignment mess just being the front for a secret mission to send Cal into Southern U.S. territory to wreak havoc and disrupt college football"

Apparently, ESPN has contacted the member of our community who took the picture and tweeted it out asking if they have permission to repost it across all of their properties. ESPN if you are reading this the answer is absofreakinglutely!!!

Just had the collective tweet it out to remove any ambiguity about ownership. Repost away.

Pretty incredible that the actual marketing team didn't want to do any of this.

Agreed. It didn't cost the marketing team a penny. If it flopped, no big deal and they can't be blamed for it. As it turned out, this is best and most recognized marketing campaign in my 50+ years as a Cal fan.

GT fans will love the billboard, though! At the ATL airport a GT fan saw me in Cal gear and walked over to welcome us to the ACC, and congratulate us on the win. He said it's always a good day when Auburn loses.

Always.

Out this morning. New location in Tallahassee. Will be up all week. We thought about a new tagline but decided "THANK Y'ALL FOR THE INVITATION" still worked best at FSU for reasons that should be obvious.

Nice work!

And agreed, no need to create any bulletin board material.

That is right except I took the course a little under 30 years ago. I was intending to be an anthropology major until my parents put a hard no on that. I took a few econ classes and when i took 141, I know econ was the major for me - great blend of social and quant disciplines.

I see they no longer have Econ 146 -- Cost-Benefit Analysis. (if I remember the course number correctly)

Half of the class (my half) got very anxious the first day, when the prof told us the extent to which calculus would be a key to succeeding in the class. (Most of us needed the class to graduate in PEIS.) I think I ended up with a "Gentleman's B-", but that is one that still occasionally gives me one of those "I'm not gonna graduate!" nightmares, 40+ years later.

Looks like you did a bit of cost-benefit analysis yourself and came out relatively ok with a B-. I wish I did more of that when I decided to take, chem and physics in the same semester.

I took Chem 1 and 2 (organic) and Calc 1 and 2 (differentials) simultaneously 2 terms in a row. Did OK first term, almost flunked both second term. Turned that "gentleman's D" in Calc 2 into a "B" in Calc 3 (Integrals) third term. The following year I tool Physics 1 and 2 with no other science or math. It's all in keeping the plate manageable.

Where do these numbers come from.....I recall (maybe not so correctly): Chem 1A, 1B, Chem 8,9 (organic), Physics 4A, 4B, 4C, (for engineers), Physics 3A, 3B for (pharms, pre dentals, pre meds), and the whole 10 series to listen to out of major Nobel Laureates.. Walk back to 1959

kevin's humour laced (in a sad way) vignette is yet another example/insight of knowlton surrounding himself with people that resent/don't like football, all roads in the billboard case lead back to the obstinate & 100% incompetent/non innovative markeisha everrett

even after the successful trial run of FREE students tixs for a couple of basketball games last season, she has reverted back to selling a $125 student pass which is unaffordable for those that are poor as **** (like my moms back in the day) which means there are thousands of current students that will never go to a football or basketball game, will never become season tix buyers after college & will probably never donate to the university...they are the disenfranchised who view berkeley in a transactional manner without school spirit or crying tears of joy (like shocky) when stormin' the field/court after an EPIC victory

the lazy azz markeisha needs to be reassigned to berkeley parking enforcement, she should work 8:00 am to 5:00 pm every day with two 30 minute breaks for food

until then there will be tens of thousands of empty seats at memorial stadium on gamedays that could've been given FREE to students or sold to young alums (particularly those starting families) that are priced out of the 49ers & warriors...of course one of the tricks of worthless bureaucrats is to set really low sales metrics & then claim victory with almost half the stadium empty

now is a good time to remind everybody that markeisha directly showed ZERO interest in the billboard project which is building interest in the cal football program on a national footprint

markeisha & her enabler knowlton r more interested in cashing checks/promoting their careers than building the cal football/basketball brands

if will be interesting to see how long lyons puts up with this ****show

TARP MANGEMENT in berkeley#
Shocky1
How long do you want to ignore this user?
it should also be pointed out that coach wilcox handing out a thousand plus FREE tixs to students last week wuz a cal football program initiative to build the cal fanbase (which is critical for espn gameday consideration) & develop future donors/builders of berkeley

this initiative led by football chief of operations andrew mcgraw got absolutely NOTHING to do with markeisaha & her boss knowlton

marekeisha & knowlton could offer FREE tixs to all students tomorrow thereby allowing our very busy head coach to focus on the team's next opponent instead of doing their ******* jobs!!

at some point lyons is gonna have to take ACTION (which is wut real INNOVATION is all about), not fotoshoots

100% worthless/useless bureaucrats in berkeley (drawing paychecks that will NEVER be recruited away by any other organization)#

Did McGraw or Wilcox purchase the tickets with their own money before distributing them? Or perhaps a donor?

That's the only scenario where I could see no involvement from ATO and/or AD. But you pretend to know all the answers, so if you can take a break from posting your spank bank pictures and enlighten us with details rather than again demonstrating your well established hard on for certain Cal employees.

AunBear89
How long do you want to ignore this user?
So, no, you don't have answers. Just arrogance and attitude.

Back to posting pictures of your daughter. And golf courses. And continuing to contribute very little value relative to your posting volume.

Since you have no answer, it is reasonable to assume that someone contacted the ticket office and requested tickets to give to students, and after some sort of discussion, they received the tickets.

Unless you have evidence that someone else purchased the tickets to then distribute. But, given your knee JERK reaction and total lack of details, you appear to be full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.

Not to defend Markeisha because I think she's terrible at this job, but $125 is a pretty consistent inflation-adjusted price for season tickets. I'm digging back into my old emails, and back in 2005 the price for student season tickets was $80. Wouldn't you know, $125 in today's was $78 back in 2005.

Anecdotally based on the undegrads I've GSI'd, it would also appear that students today at Cal seem to be more well off than when I attended. There's a lot more students living in off-campus luxury apartments, a lot more have cars, there are a lot more (comparably speaking) fancier restaurants around town, and a lot more Macbooks than cheap Dells.

How long do you want to ignore this user?
Your need to performance adjust that. What you got for that 70+ dollars in 2005 is light years vs the product you get today. Take it from a Berkeley econ major - Markeisha sucks!

Berkeley economics undergrad is #5 overall and #1 public university... No tying for #1 either lol

Any financial model that considers student gate receipts as a primary KPI is incredibly short-sighted.

Here's my take: by-and-large most people working in the AD are not "Cal people", and as such they are there to collect a paycheck, nothing more. To that end (and a similar problem exists with politicians), they're not going to want to invest in initiatives where the payoff comes a decade later because they may not be around to reap the rewards. Hence, the KPIs and OKRs that they set all have a very short time horizon.

Good point and that's why I'm all for calling out Markeisha and her bloated team any chance I get. She doesn't deserve to take the schools money, tank our program, and leave to her side gig
