Sorry for starting a second thread on this. But I figured nobody would read this if I posted it there.

Here's the rest of the answer:

Don't worry, there's a very good chance parents of Cal recruits won't read your post or Vanity Fair magazine.

Here's the rest of the answer:

Rodger's "worst statistical game ever, in terms of passer rating" was 2003 in a home game at CMS vs. Oregon State. People say he was still hurt, and likely so, but if so that was all the more reason to bring in Robertson who had just beaten USC in relief.

^Yes one of Tedford's stubborn tendencies to stick with injured QBs, see Longshore, JT was probably a tough QB who played through injuries at Fresno.

As to the OP and title of this thread, the best QB in the game today is a Cal Bear, and that's all that recruits need to know about Rodgers, the rest is pure fluff.

Yes, football recruits wouldn't know how to handle a sure fire HOF. multi-millionaire, Super Bowl winning QB who went to Cal. Too confusing

Problem is he got the "mind opening" part, but was only on campus three semesters so he had to "do his own research" while in the NFL and is missing a lot of the education in logic, science and critical thinking one hopefully receives in 8 semesters.

There is a high correlation between people raised in fundamentalist religions, even if they have left them, and believers in conspiracies like flat Earth, chemtrails, the Illuminati, Jewish space lasers….

Ah the culture wars.

Most parents think their children should be exposed to different people and thoughts as part of their maturation process and cultivating their child's potential. Let the kids learn how to explore and develop themselves. I don't think AR being exposed to so many things in college is such a turn off to parents. And to be more candid, parents are concerned about the cost of college, and often more concerned about the financial package their football playing son is receiving, if you catch my drift.

It is very telling that while the brothers won't talk to the writer, the parents are still very much keeping the "estrangement" in the news...

That does not appear to me to be a genuine attempt at reconciliation. From his mother's very firm position "on premarital sex" to expressing an concern "about him making a trip with his girlfriend and staying in the same hotel room with her" to the writer/press is certainly not accepting of her son.

Accepting that this is accurate, why would AR want to have anything to do with them...the more interaction with them the more fodder they have to blab about to whomever. Good for him for keeping people out of his life who are not accepting of him. Shame on them for continuing to keep the estrangement in the news and for blaming everyone but themselves for the situation.

I usually read at least one "advice column" per day, such as Dear Abby. Most of it is about families not getting along. It just seems odd to me. I have a small immediate family but a large extended family. We're not really close, but we all get along. And we have some odd ducks in my family. Some troubled folks even. Yet we can all sit down for a meal or a get-together now and then. It's your darn family: put aside your differences, at least temporarily.

Okay, maybe major differences are harder to put aside when it's your immediate family; I don't know.

They're definitely ok with Aaron reconciling with them, they have clearly done nothing wrong...

The parents used empty chairs for Aaron when The Bachelorette filmed at their house. I mean, they are not blameless.

Sometimes horrible people are horrible people. My dad filed 2 restraining orders against my sister. Also, he had my mom arrested. All this within the past decade. (Despite all that, they weren't estranged.)

I think this way. Not sure that remains the case with people younger than us.

This strikes me as a very odd take.

We really have no idea what the truth is here and I don't think anything in this story can lead to a firm conclusion that is "very telling". In fact, the author expressly says that.

Maybe the brothers refused to participate in the book because Arod had previously been upset that they were in the press? In that sense, the lack of participation might be an attempt to reconcile.

Maybe the parents participated because they want to get a message of reconciliation to Aaron. In the parts of read (not all), it seems that the parents are going out of their way not to talk dookie about Arod.

And even if everything is "accurate" (as you put it), lots of people have relationships with dysfunctional family members. And some do not. I know people who have relationships with one parent but not the other. Lots of permutations.
