Welcome! Can't wait to get down to the Plains later this week. If I want to make a similar post (Cal POV on an Auburn board) what's the place to go?
Conversely the sample size of a 'good' season under Wilcox is so small that repeating his mediocre performance vs FCS schools seems to indicate another .500 or worse yearsycasey said:
Safe to say that most people aren't feeling too positive after a lackluster performance against UC Davis, in which more than a few guys seemed to be injured.
Personally? I'm not sure how to feel about it. Under Justin Wilcox, Cal has almost always played down to the FCS opponent in the first half before eventually pulling out a win by more than one score. It's happened in bad seasons for us and also good/average seasons. It's not really a leading indicator of anything. So my personal feeling is "uncertain."

Boy oh boy it is good most of you have never played football. You would all have wilted in 2 seconds on the field. Better go read your law books. With the injuries we likely have an uphill battle. Cal has enough talent when mostly healthy. I would play the odds and not play any of the injured guys and find a pathway to win 8 games. Yes we played like dogsh*t in the first half. Second half much better, This year is on the coaches more than ever. Go Bears!
And the same annual Negabears!Golden One said:bearister said:
…but, but, but, we have 54 new players and the 13th ranked transfer class.
Yes, but we have the same crappy head coach.

As far as I can tell nobody's talking about Auburn yet. But I had a first reading of the summary of your win. Never seen a game that shortened to, I believe, 10 minutes a quarter in the second half because the first half was such a blowout. Does that occur only in the South? And what classification was the team you played? Hopefully not a division II team.
BTW, several years I viewoed a long argument between famous Alabama and Auburn athletes about what team was better. I also remember the guy who did the poisoing spoke on the phone to the famous southern sports reporter who is Jewish, as am I. How long will it take for the new trees to be fully grown? Thanks.

Never heard of the team you played last Saturday. What is their name and what college division do they in?
Many rears ago UC Davis beat Stanford.

Unfortunately, Cal's recruiting is never deep enough on the offfensive line, where I think most injuries occur proportionate the players playing that position, than at other positions.
On a somewhat related subject, did our stud offensive lineman who transferred to Oklahoma a few seasons ago make it into the NFL? I forget his name.
thats a great ice-breaker when i'm trying to get some bomb southern tailgate food next weekend though, so maybe don't answerBearly Clad said:
Here's a question, so your mascot is the war eagle but you guys are the tigers? What's the story there? I've always meant to look it up but now I can hear it straight from a fan
do they have good free boards?8tiger said:
The Rivals Auburn site and the 247 site are very active. Tons of fans on there.
My God, who had the time to do this?bearister said:
Let's put it this way, you might want to start a "Cal roster look alike" thread on your Football Board and have your way with us.

We need a portal system for coaches. The coaches don't know what to do with what they have.
Pour me one them.Anarchistbear said:

I sincerely doubt that will happen.BarcaBear said:
so bad that our new Chancellor fires our entire coaching staff on the spot.
Waffle Houses require lots open space, but seem to rarely have it, for the few I have been to. The space would seem to be needed, not so much for Jukebox dancing, but for the fights I have seen going viral on the Interwebs. LOLGobears49 said:
We should have beat Auburn last year. We need to make up for that.
Hope to read insights from Cal fans attending the game and any comments of anyone visiting a Waffle House with a jukebox to indicate whether that concept would work in the Bay Area if it was a bit more fancy. I miss visiting the one northwest Georgia I visited.

Thanks for the story. Hadn't heard that. Really looking forward to heading out to Auburn on Thursday. Have been to a number of SEC games and always have a great time (you all really know how to put on a party) but never Auburn. Have heard great things. Enjoyed also having a number of your fans out here last year.8tiger said:
Well, kind of a long story. It's adequately explained on our Athletic website. But, Tigers is our mascot. War Eagle is our battle cry. Similar to how USC fans say Fight On. Alabama fans say Roll Tide. Arkansas fans say Wooo Pig Sooie.
It's a long story, but basically an Auburn professor in the 1890's was a Civil War veteran. He had a pet eagle that he found as a baby on a battlefield in Virginia. He kept it all those years and everyone knew it was his pet from the war.
He took it to an Auburn/Georgia game and we won the game. There is more details to the story.
it is going to be in the low 80s. One hopes the Bears wont wilt in thatLodeBear said:
