I have seen nothing, here, that could compare with the bizarre and random one might witness on Telegraph in the 1970s.Sebastabear said:Thanks for the story. Hadn't heard that. Really looking forward to heading out to Auburn on Thursday. Have been to a number of SEC games and always have a great time (you all really know how to put on a party) but never Auburn. Have heard great things. Enjoyed also having a number of your fans out here last year.8tiger said:
Well, kind of a long story. It's adequately explained on our Athletic website. But, Tigers is our mascot. War Eagle is our battle cry. Similar to how USC fans say Fight On. Alabama fans say Roll Tide. Arkansas fans say Wooo Pig Sooie.
It's a long story, but basically an Auburn professor in the 1890's was a Civil War veteran. He had a pet eagle that he found as a baby on a battlefield in Virginia. He kept it all those years and everyone knew it was his pet from the war.
He took it to an Auburn/Georgia game and we won the game. There is more details to the story.
By the way, if you read posts on this board relating to your game that seem completely off the beam and make you think we're out of our minds, be advised we have a few odd folks who are engaged in some kind of weird performance-art thing on Bear Insider where they repeatedly post bizarre tangents to get a rise out of people and because they think they are funny. They aren't. There is at least one of them already active in this thread. You don't exactly have to be Inspector Poirot to figure out who they are Please don't walk away with the impression from these posts we are all quite that nuts. It takes all types.
Looking forward to a good game.
Bezerkeley.
Just sayin.'
"Just win, baby."
