Alabama crowd today wasn't huge. But I guess they're used to it.

Still not happy the Pac-12 broke up, but the move to the ACC has now officially been a MASSIVE boon for Cal football's media exposure.

This decision makes the placement of Miami-Cal in the late 7:30 PT window even more curious. If they had the game on a shortlist for GameDay, I would have expected them to keep it as an option for the 4:30 ABC window, but they just put it at 7:30 two weeks ago and left Clemson-FSU as the ACC flex option at 4/4:30.

And no, ESPN didn't need Cal to fill the late window. They could have also put ASU there.

If you're a live football game junkie, next Saturday will be epic in the Bay Area. Game Day from 6-9 AM, Virginia Tech at Stanford at 12:30, Nevada at San Jose State at 4:30 and then Miami at Cal at 7:30! Ignoring Game Day, I suspect it's been quite a long time since all 3 Bay Area universities had home games on the same day.

If all 3 were on ESPN or acc network, the crew could helicopter from one to the next and make a big deal about it all. Would be cool.

I am amazed and 100% surprised yet incredibly excited! I never thought in my lifetime this would happen. I went to Game Day at Oregon hosting Cal in 2007 and it was incredible for the Bears to get that exposure and of course the underdog win! Yes, fans will show up. Having it staged in the glade will make all our stays at the Faculty Club, when we tailgated there for years even more inspiring. The late kick-off time is the only downer, but who cares.?? The Bears have got Game Day!
Bring back bottled beer and cigars at CMS. Should get us back in the Rose Bowl!

VT @ Stanford is on ACCN and of course Miami @ Cal is on ESPN.

An opportunity to feature Cal of course, but also get in some element of both Bay Area teams hosting new ACC conference rivals on the same day.

Any publicity is good publicity as far as the Bay Area being a P4 football area.

And you can catch Nevada-SJSU on truTV! (The Mountain West has no ESPN contract, so that game would never be on their networks.)

I don't think you have to pray. Marshawn is so obviously the No. 2 choice after Dumpster Muffin.

So is Kirk Herbstreit going to jump on a plane right after and fly to Arkansas, or would he do our game?

Herbstreit actually posts all his flights on his Instagram account. He shows his air travel every week (all by private Lear jet), and he takes his oldest Golden Retriever "Ben" with him. The dog is literally at his feet on set.

He lives in Cincinnati, and he also works the Prime Thursday night NFL games. Last week he flew back and forth 3 times between Alabama (same day flights) and Cincinnati. Once to see his Son's Friday night high school game. He flew back right after the game. The guy gets around on his schedule.

Hey Cal Admin - you see how football markets your university? It's almost like having a football team will improve the stature of our university instead of detract from it. The entire US will be watching and we better put our best foot forward. Clean up that campus!
Give to Cal Legends!

https://calegends.com/donation/ Do it now. Text every Cal fan you know, give them the link, tell them how much you gave, and ask them to text every Cal fan they know and do the same.

So this will be Kirk Herbstreit's week based on the tweet above:

1. Cincinnati to Atlanta.

2. Atlanta to Oakland.

3. Oakland to Cincinnati.

4. Cincinanati to Oakland.

5. Oakland to Fayetteville.

6. Fayetteville to Cincinnati.

Applications will soar beyond 150,000 next year!
Lots of 17 year old coeds watch ESPN Game Day.

I propose the University charge 5x the application fee for out of staters and stiff em after taking their money.

Oakland to Fayetteville is a 4-hour flight plus the 2-hour time difference means he would need at least 6+ hours ahead of time to make kickoff and Arkansas-Tennessee kicks off at 6:30PM Central (4:30PM Pacific) so he would have to haul ass out of Berkeley or leave GameDay early for that to work

Show ends at approx 9am Pacific, 11am Central - approx 7.5 hours prior to kickoff at 630pm Central.

I am guessing traveling on tight schedules is a well oiled process for him by now.

Will help that at 9am on Saturday, traffic will be pretty light from Berkeley to Oakland.

Given its a private plane, he could be wheels up by 10am if he left the set at 9am to head to his waiting, nearby car and driver.

Wrong. It often ends around 9:07 a.m. They go over into the next hour.
