4-star wide receiver Jaden Nickens, who plays for Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, CA), will livestream his college decision on 247 Sports this Thursday, November 14, at 11am PT. He lists Cal as a finalist, along with Georgia, Kansas, Oklahoma State, and Texas A&M.



I didn't see him mentioned in this forum, but Bear Insider has a recruiting page for Nickens, plus an article mentioning him as one of several prospects who visited campus in September and attended the San Diego State game. He posted the following:

Nickens originally committed to Oklahoma in August 2023, but decommitted in March 2024. He went full Steinbeck and moved from the Sooner State to the Golden State over the summer.

He wants to play football and basketball in college, and he made a point of mentioning that when he decommitted and brought it up again as a factor in making his upcoming decision.

I'm pretty sure he's going to Kansas because I don't think we ever offered him in basketball.

I hope Toler and Madsen pull him in. Our offense next year should be a return to Bear Raid, pass first, play fast with Mendoza (and hopefully Sagapolutele as heir apparent) putting up huge passing numbers.

As I said, before I posted about Jaden Nickens, I did a search for his name in this forum, which includes the monster thread, and there were no matches. So either the site's search engine doesn't work, or you haven't mentioned him. Could you link to the specific post in your 337 pages of content?

Consider the possibility that you may have overlooked Jaden Nickens in your stream-of-consciousness (but still entertaining) coverage, because neither of the sports he wants to play in college is golf, and he doesn't appear to have a smokeshow ponytail.

Also, I'm not a fan of copious irrelevant cheesecake pictures that eat up my bandwidth and occasionally lock up the page as it's loading. Not everyone has unlimited bandwidth on their phone.

I don't think that's relevant for two-sport athletes. An offer is a scholarship offer; Mark Madsen and Bill Self wouldn't make a formal offer if their schools' football programs were already doing so. It's more likely that they make some kind of informal promise for a preferred walk-on position.

Verbal Commits keeps track of basketball offers, and its page for Jaden Nickens only shows offers from Oklahoma State and Auburn, way back in 2021.

Well, if you look at his insta, he states that he got offered by both football and basketball at Kansas, so that's why I presume they're the heavy favorite to land him.

JMO but Nickens is not a Kansas basketball recruit in normal times. They would not be offering if this was a basketball only scenario.

And you'd be correct; Jaden Nickens just committed to Kansas. The video I embedded at the top of this thread will become a replay of his announcement.

Nickens is committing to Kansas without ever seeing the campus in Lawrence. He knows other recruits that are going there, he has had zoom calls with the coaching staffs and he has done his research, but he is excited to see Kansas for the first time on his official visit next weekend.
