I would punt against anyone but Cal - we give up about 90% of fourth downs.
Ok - looked it up. Slightly more than 60%, but still putrid.

It is unfathomable how many 4th and 3+ this defense gives up. The success rate should be like 20% not over 50%.

Attack the soft zone D with short throws.
Man up on our receivers and don't allow the short stuff
Basically take advantage of our inherent conservatism knowing full well we won't ever be aggressive

Because Wilcox is a coaching savant? What success has he had as a HC?
I'm pretty sure he's already lost much of the team. Retaining Wilcox will likely mean losing Cal's best players, anyway.
Why keep Wilcox if the end result will be the same?
At this point it might just be giving Stanford more time to score.
