Aaron Rodgers had a definite influence on our new 5-star quarterback, our new 4-star offensive linemen just mentioned him in his announcement speech. Dude still has pull, maybe we can use him somewhere in some form more than we used him that one week.

Not certain he will retire next year, he might keep playing next year if he gets a better opportunity next year with another team.

How about Nate Longshore? He's free.

I'm happy with any and all financial donations he would like to make. If you can imagine him giving any amount of significant time to the program, then you are more creative than I am. I don't mean that critically, just saying if he retires, he has a lot of money to spend, has had to worry about football all his life, and now he doesn't. Shows up for Spring game, a practice etc...that would be great...

I'm guessing that he'll play another 1-2 years.

Bring back bottled beer and cigars at CMS. Should get us back in the Rose Bowl!

I think he will keep playing if:
-his heel gets a bit better
-he gets a good opportunity at a solid team that is weak at QB, like say, the Vikings or 49ers, turning them into contenders.

Because it's an Achilles injury, much like an ACL it's the second year after that tells the tale. So I'd like to see him play next year just to know whether he's lost his edge (seems he has).

Speaking of staff, looks like we are maintaining two DB coaches and So'oto will still do LBs and STs. I don't get what JW is doing in that regard. It's like we are punting (pun intended) the STs -- the oversight of STs includes the really horrific PK situation we've had the last two seasons. At least we have a dedicated OL coach. Doing the hybrid thing for the most important/most challenged unit was just a bad idea.

But they also have Ryan Longwell doing something - right? He could work with both the kicker and punter based on his experience at Cal. The other 10 guys on those plays could get coached by others i guess.

But ST is more than just the punter and kicker, right? It's coverages, it's receiving, it's long-snapping, etc. One thing that stood out to me last year was that the long-snaps for field goals and extra-points weren't as consistent as they should have been given Bird's reputation. Lachlan Wilson had to corral several balls that were high or inside and likely messed up the kicker's timing. I know the argument will be, "Well, if Bird's so bad, why does Alabama want him?" All I know is that when they showed replays of missed FGs or XPs, the ball was frequently not quite where it should have been. Maybe Bird left because he wanted a full-time ST coach.

I'm not big on having a coach that is only TE's....
