The Jets have let him go.

Which teams would be a good fit for him? He is probably looking at good teams with weak QBs, perhaps the 49ers?

The UC Berkeley Bears need an experienced qb, and he does have one year of eligibility remaining.

Given the powerlessness of the NCAA and the chance to make big bucks in NIL seems possible someone will try and come back from the NFL at some point…

He's cooked. No insult to him as a player, he's obviously been great. But everyone gets too old at some point and I think his time has come.

Brady retired at 45.

If his achile's heel shows further improvement, he would still perform as an upper tier NFL QB.

The bad news on this is it could drag on quite a while as there are no incentives for the jets to just release Rodgers quickly. His 2025 salary doesn't get guaranteed until the start of the regular season but the jets can just sit around and wait until they get some kind of offer. There is no monetary or cap difference to the jets if they act now, in June, or the day before the season starts.

It's also not in Rodgers' interest to retire because they Jets would hold his rights if he ever wanted to come back.

And then any team trading for Rodgers could be on the hook for $35 million in 2025. And Rodgers has a no trade clause.

Perhaps a deal can be worked out for a low round draft pick + salary renegotiation to spread out the 2025 salary before the draft. But again that would require a team to agree to paying Rodgers at that 35 million at some point.

Why would the Jets waste $35 million blocking Rodgers from joining another team when they don't even want him?? They don't have much leverage here.

They aren't wasting anything - their contact decision date is literally the first day of the regular season. Hold him til then and cutting 1 day prior is the same 'zero' cost as cutting him now. The dead cap money also doesn't change because that is all money already paid to him.

Brady is an outlier because he was fanatical about his conditioning, like LeBron.

Any other NFL QB extending his career that long is likely to perform a lot like the last years of Favre, not the last years of Brady.

The numbers are fine. I'd say average, not top tier. Although that interception stat is very misleading.

Guess how many QBs had 28 TDs? 8.

So "4th fewest" sounds pretty good. But 4th out of 8 is again middle of the pack. And at 11 INTs, he's just one INT ahead of 3 guys tied at 12 in that group of 8.

This. I'm sure AR can still make an NFL roster, yes, but his days of being an above-average starter are done.

Wondering the same thing because Rodgers wasn't with Carroll at Cal... or Packers... or Jets.

Y'all don't know okay do by now? Everything he posts is extremely literal but intentionally misleading.

Rodgers and Carroll have certainly met. They've been on the same field many times, including twice at Cal. Therefore if he goes to the Raiders, they will have reunited. Just not in the way you assumed he meant.

Uniting with someone you've previously met and reuniting with someone are not one in the same.

You're addressing the wrong person, but even I think you're being too narrow with your definition of reunion.

"an instance of two or more people coming together again after a period of separation."

Maybe Carroll coached him in a pro bowl. Maybe they play golf together. Idk, but you have fallen into okaydo's trap. At some point he's going to reveal why it's a reunion, and you're going to either say "ahhh" or "SMH."

Why would they do this? Just to screw AR? Why would a new GM/coach want to mistreat a respected veteran and future Hall of Famer in that way? If they did, they would immediately alienate at least some existing players, not to mention potential free agents they want to sign. Again, why?

The entire purpose of the recent meeting was to be clearly communicate intentions so that both sides could have clarity and plan accordingly. The Jets want to move on which makes sense - AR even said that. Why would they drag this out for no real reason?
