Good research! I remember seeing Number One at The Oaks Theater. I was maybe . . . 13 years-old? Lamonica was throwing bombs and Biletnikoff/Wells were catching them. And Charlton Heston looked too old to play the QB role until you saw George Blanda, who was doing it for real.

What really rubs me the wrong way about the 9ers is that they have had a long history of overlooking Cal talent, and passing over a generational talent and hall of famer like Rodgers in favor of a middling talent like Alex Smith is a prime example of this. Not only did they hurt themselves with this choice, but they've also robbed us of a championship season by making Rodgers believe that they would choose him with their top pick of the draft, cementing his decision to leave early.
I don't know if AR would have had the same career arc he's had if he was drafted by SF. Smith has said that when he came to the 49ers, he would watch film by himself and didn't know what he was doing. AR got to sit and learn from a future Hall of Famer in Favre. And don't forget the parade of bad head coaches and offensive coordinators that Smith had (Mike Nolan, Mike Singletary who both hired OCs that got changed out yearly).

I have to say, the make believe story that Brett Favre helped Rodgers learn is pretty funny. It's been pretty established how terrible he was to Rodgers. Favre was a total A hole to Aaron.

Favre and Rodgers got along maybe in their 2nd and 3rd year.

Favre didn't teach him, but Rodgers probably learned from watching him.

I don't imply that AR learned anything from Favre. But GB likely had the correct support system to where he could learn the process from being around Favre. I'm sure he could watch film with the coaches (and Favre) and learn that process, unlike Alex Smith.

Yeah that's about the extent of Favre's participation in educating Aaron into the NFL. Well that and also showing how threatened he was of Aaron taking his job. The great thing is Aaron learned what not to do with his young backup QBs. He treated Jordan Love and that Jets backup QB very good and they both are very appreciative for that.

Obviously Rodgers has been a great QB in his career, but LOL at those who want to put him over the likes of Montana and Brady. There is more to quarterbacking than just having the best arm talent.

Having the best arm is not even Rodgers' best attribute, although his combination of arm strength, accuracy and quick release is indeed exceptional. Beyond that though he also has phenomenal intangibles, pocket presence and the ability to read defenses and direct his offense.

In his prime, yes he did.

Still not a better player than Montana or Brady.

He's cooked. No insult to him as a player, he's obviously been great. But everyone gets too old at some point and I think his time has come.

Brady retired at 45.
Brady is an outlier because he was fanatical about his conditioning, like LeBron.

Any other NFL QB extending his career that long is likely to perform a lot like the last years of Favre, not the last years of Brady.

Either that or he just kept cloning himself. There's a great show on AppleTv about the benefits of cloning called Foundation.

I heard that Aaron Rodgers and his new wife have donated money for a new players lounge. The Aaron and Lennay Kekua Rodgers Lounge should be officially announced in the next week.

Weddings are kind of a private affair where you wouldn't necessarily invite your coworkers. In Rodgers' case as well it seems like his wife has issues with privacy, which I guess will be a challenge given that she has married a big sports celebrity, arguably the biggest active star in the NFL today.

It turns out that Rodgers has approached his late career stint with the Steelers with good professionalism and leadership, contrary to the large segment of mass media detractors that are often relayed on this board by Okaydo.

"Steelers' Calvin Austin III Opens Up About Private Dinner With Aaron Rodgers That Should Change Everything For Pittsburgh

Many n Steeler Nation were worried Rodgers would be a bad teammate or a distraction, but so far it's been the complete opposite. Rodgers has shown professionalism and leadership that have impressed both the team and fans alike.

It's not uncommon for these types of hangouts to happen when a new player joins a team. However, many are shocked to find out just how bought in Rodgers is to building relationships with his new Steelers teammates. Even if it's just for one season, he's come to the Steel City on a mission to earn the trust of his new teammates.

Steelers wide receiver Calvin Austin III shared some interesting details about his time hanging out with Rodgers at a private dinner at Nobu with the team that lasted three hours. Austin revealed this during an appearance on the Jason & John show on 92.9 FM ESPN. The dinner helped build chemistry and trust, giving the Steelers confidence in Rodgers as they head into the new season.

Perhaps the most exciting part of the three-hour dinner and the time Austin spent hanging out with Rodgers and his teammates is the chemistry they built. Austin said that immediately after getting to chop it up with Rodgers, he started to feel comfortable around him. Since then, he's been able to pick Rodgers' brain and truly learn what it takes to thrive as a wide receiver in this league.

"We weren't even thinking about the time because we were real deal chopping it up," Austin said. "We were talking about life, what we think about things, just everything. Looking back at that, that was so pivotal going into this training camp because now I feel extremely comfortable with him… We on that level now. The chemistry and that stuff you can't measure are the things that help you win close games."
