I hope the HC, whoever he may be, manages to bring back Ron Gould as RB coach. Cal's best sustained success in producing great running backs was under Gould. While Gould may not be HC material, he has proven to be a good RB coach.

Ron's nearing the end of his career. He's 60 years old. He's not a young guy and he's in the NFL. He doesn't want or need a college job. He doesn't have to recruit his own players everyday to stay at your school like you have to do as a college coach.

All fair points. But if he wants to go back to the college ranks (or maybe move back to the Bay), it'd be great to see him back as Cal's RB coach.

Lol, Desean knows about this thread and obviously he'd be stoked to take the job. And yes he'd bring in some big former Cal names, possibly M.L. and others.
People forget how great we use to be.

There's a reason why Deon was able to bring in so many five stars when he began at Colorado.. he had big names on his coaching staff other than his own name.
Also his father and brother are into coaching so he wouldn't be no deer in the head lights.
Hell we have some of the greatest former corner backs ever in the NFL.

That said, it would be an extreme risk.

Low floor, high ceiling. DeSean also bled (bleeds?) blue and gold. I'd love to see him back at Cal!

Sanders is dead man walking at Colorado.
Flash in the pan. It's over and I'll bet he's not at Colorado next year for a variety of reasons
