How long do you want to ignore this user?
This is just something i have heard, i have no specific knowledge of the situation but there is talks going around that Tosh and Tedford are having a little rift between the two. It comes back to the faking injuries and Tosh being the fall guy. May be something, may be nothing, just sharing what i have heard.

Well lets hope not, that would be idiocy on Tedford's part and I honestly think he is better than that.

Are you speculating? Where is this "talk going around" coming from? Reliable source? Seems like you're creating a controversy where there isn't any. He served his suspension and both have moved on. That's how I see it.

If I am not mistaken..the 'suspension' was for a week and started Saturday. They wouldn't/shouldn't even be in contact with each other until this weekend...I find it hard to believe.

I hope this is not true. If true, I hope JT is not wanting to go back to moribund recruiting classes.

Tosh is the future of cal football coaching, honestly i feel it is a matter of time before he becomes the HC. Also, think Geoff McArthur should be WR coach. I've been coached by him before and I have no doubt how well he would relate to playmakers.

Nothing would surprise me. The entire affair is odd. If Tosh broke the "code" then he needs to accept the punishment and move on. If Tosh took the fall for the program and believes JT did not support him enough either publicly or privately then I can understand some hurt feelings.

I sense this entire affair is getting much more play than it deserves. Both what happened on the field and then the ridiculous aftermath and investigation. Tosh is a good young coach with a bright future IMO. This just needs to end.

This is about as funny as one of our players faking an injury. If I was a coach or on the team I'd probably throw in a little humor, and right before a film study I'd fall to the ground and fake an injury, and say that I just couldn't continue with the meeting because I was "cramping". ahaha

How long do you want to ignore this user?
I am sure Tosh realizes he is considered a young coach with a big upside. If somehow this all went down in an unanticipated fashion (i.e. he was made into the fall guy) then if I were him....I'd be ****ed. It is tarnish to his reputation. Anyone with pride in his/her work would have a similar reaction. Let's just hope it doesn't push him to want to find a new job elsewhere. We need him.

To be made the focus of a tactic that if I were hin, I would do 10 out of 10 times against Oregon (until the refs tell me that I can't do that anymore), and yet be punished for it -- sucks for Tosh big time.

I've heard the same.

Anyone that actually KNOWS Tosh knows that he's the last guy to do something like that.
He must be incredibly embarrassed, and ****ed off.

Perhaps JT thinks that Tosh is expendable since he's the youngest guy on the staff . . . and perhaps Pendergast has been looking to bring in his own D-Line coach ever since he came aboard the team. So they have Tosh take the "fall" and it's no big deal because Pendergast has been looking to bring in his OWN guy.

It's quite possible.

It's entirely possible that Tosh volunteered to do this after seeing the stupid Oregon fan produced youtube video go viral, as well as Larry Scott getting his shorts in a bunch over this with the Cal athletics dept.

We'll never know what actually happened, KAB, but if your scenario is what really happened, then it was a real coward move by Tedford.

If Tosh has committed recruiting violations, then yes, suspend him, but you don't let your assistant take the "fall" for something like this. As a head coach, you take the blame. This whole thing just looked like Tedford was just trying to save his face.

I just don't believe Tedford didn't know about the whole "fake injury" part of the game plan against Oregon.

This is rank speculation of the worst kind, and has precisely zero chance of being true.

The idea that anyone would view the Rivals Recruiter of the Year, and coach of the best unit on the entire team as "expendable" is laughable.

Didn't Tedford comment on the "faking" injuries? Didn't he say something to the effect of, "The players were told, if you need to get off the field and don't think you will have enough time, get down, then we can get you off the field."

Okanes on Tedford:

"Coach Jeff Tedford said he had no knowledge of Lupoi's instruction to Tipoti until Lupoi admitted it to him."

...It is at least POSSIBLE that Tosh did in fact do this on his own.

If Tosh is in fact "taking one for the team" in lieu of the other guy in charge, hopefully it provides fuel for his future Head Coaching candidacy @ Cal and he sticks around (or comes back) to see it happen.

I thought that faking injuries was what they call "gamesmanship" because they do it in the NFL and it's one of those things everybody knows about and accepts as "part of the game". Heck, I heard this was stuff they did to stop Jim Kelly and Buffalo Bill's no-huddle K-Gun offense in the 1990s. Yeah, it's been part of the game that long.

I saw what Cal was doing on the field and just smiled, especially at Aaron Tipoti's Oscar-winning performance. LOL! No biggie, signals or not.

If it's not against the rules, it's gonna keep happening and has happened before at the highest levels of football and with better actors. If the NCAA doesn't like it, add a new Bylaw against it. Until then, let it go.

That's the thing about this suspension. Tedford either knew about "the plan" all along or he should have known. The only way this isn't horrible mismanagement of his staff by Tedford is if Lupoi volunteered to take the hit without any pressure from the higher-ups.

Tedford stated something like; we tell our players if they THINK they might be injured, go down.

He could have kept this as the party line and nothing more would have come from it from anyone, in my opinion. The issue would have been over.

Laugh all you want, but how do you NOT know the possibility of Pendergast looking to bring in his own D-line coach since he was hired???

You don't.

Leave it to you to be so naive as to think that a new DC would not have liked to have brought in his own "guy". Good luck with that kind of pixie-dust logic. It should serve you well in life.

He only looks to bring in his own "guy" if he does not like the job the current "guy" is doing, and the current guy has been producing some good DLs and more importantly has been instrumental in bringing in a lot of highly rated defensive recruits, something defensive coordinators tend to value HIGHLY. Pendergast seems like a shrewd guy. If he really has a buddy he wants to find a job for, I highly doubt it is Tosh who gets bumped.

Yes. This.

Is it possible that Pendergast would want to hire his own guy? Yes. Is it likely, considering Lupoi is probably our most outstanding recruiter, and the d-line has been great all year? I would say no.

Not being able to prove a negative doesn't make it true. Speaking of things serving us well in life "TrackLife", maybe take a minute and wikipedia the word "logic" when you can.
