Our fan base is more interested in peach cobbler than football.

Maybe it's time for a pastry and recipe forum.

I think we're more interested in Chip Kelly. So much more to talk about.

That thread would just turn into "why can't we recruit the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man for OL, FB, Kicker, QB..."

Tim, you are the man! I read all your scouting scoops. Thanks for keeping a pulse - for all of us. Keep violating all the rules and enjoy what you are doing on this board.

Go Bears!

Am I more interested in peach cobbler than football? No.

Am I more interested in peach cobbler than discussing for the 10th time whether (1) Oregon is going to get punished for a violation; (2) whether Texas A&M is going to leave the Big 12; (3) whether Bigelow is going to redshirt or not; (4) whether Shaq is going to commit to Cal; or (5) whether we will get our share of top o-line recruits? Right now, yes.

This is a strange year. We do not know how we are going to do. We really haven't a clue how Maynard will do. Our offense could be really bad or pretty good. Our defense could be really good or just so-so.

Because practices are closed, we really cannot even make educated guesses on such topics like we normally would be doing at this time most years. We aren't getting full practice reports. So all we can do is make wild guesses.

As far as recruiting, we have already picked the low-lying fruit. The guys that were coming to Cal no matter what have signed (except one, he is waiting for the Army game). The remaining recruits who are interested in Cal are waiting to see what we do on the field this year. To me, discussion about whether we are going to get one of these guys is useless until we see how do in games this year. After the first couple of games, real info should start coming in. The dominoes will start falling. But right now, it's just 17-year old kids waiting and talking.

If we lose our first two games, alot of these guys who are now saying that they are intereted in Cal will change their minds. If we win they will come. If we lose, they won't. So personally, I am not going to get too caught up in what these kids are saying right now.

I see these boards as a place where I can get a wide variety of opinions from some pretty smart people. It is a usefull resource. Most of the time, these opinons concern football, especially Cal football. But sometimes, when things are slow, it may involve other things. Like where to hang out in Boulder, Colorado, or where to get a good cobbler.

Things will get more football-oriented next week I'm sure.

"I might go to Cal, but if they say that I have to study too, then I'm going to play in the SEC!"

God damn, I like your go-for-the-throat post likwid1... you should be my friend....it may pay to be so in the future......

Blackberry is the best, I agree. Also, I don't think it's ever too early to talk recruits . . .

we use to go down the street from my house and spend hours picking the blackberry vines then my grandma would make her own crust from scratch and make extra/ crust to put in the pie think chicken and dumplings (no chicken though of course) but in a blackberry pie and in a big cast iron pot. agree you can talk recruiting 24/7
