Because the D we are playing leaves players one on one EVERY PLAY.

Beat one guy and you are into the next level, with no one there to help; that leads to a LONG play if ONE player misses a tackle or is out of position.



The alternative is let Oregon score slightly slower.



The problem now is that Cal does not have the athletes ANYWHERE on D to make one on one plays. It is the entire team. So far about 4 players have missed critical backfield stops, and one guy has been blamed (who is not one of the three players)

It is what is it, Maynard can't pass. Not that Bridgford can win this game for us, but I have no idea how Maynard won that job being less accurate and less familiar with the playbook.

Maynard's strength is his ability to run. Why aren't we moving him out of the pocket with an option to pass or tuck in and run?
