Because the D we are playing leaves players one on one EVERY PLAY.
Beat one guy and you are into the next level, with no one there to help; that leads to a LONG play if ONE player misses a tackle or is out of position.
The alternative is let Oregon score slightly slower.
The problem now is that Cal does not have the athletes ANYWHERE on D to make one on one plays. It is the entire team. So far about 4 players have missed critical backfield stops, and one guy has been blamed (who is not one of the three players)
