At best I'd say give him a fly sweep. The kickoff returns especially should give him some open field to show what he can do, and he just hasn't looked explosive yet. Furthermore, if you really want to get into the statistics side of things, well, there's a correlation between carries and talent. You say not enough sample size, I say the sample size reflects that he isn't ready to play - if he was, he'd have more carries.
