There are no other reasons for him to laugh except that he thinks he performed well?

After reading this thread, I'm slack-jawed by the number of folks who
just know what Zack's sideline smiles/yuks mean. Alright, maybe, MAYBE they're right, but probably not. Using humor in a time of stress or grief is natural for some people, and can indeed be a leadership trait. And you don't work your way up to being a starting QB in the Pac 12 by taking your losses/poor performances lightly.

philly, last year was awesome but before that not so much. 2012 will see this freshmen class a year older with a quality group of redshirts playing. I think Cal will have the best defense in the conference and one of the best in the country in 2 years. If Jan. is as good as I hope Cal will be very tough to beat maybe next year but certainly in 2013.
If we can quit turning the ball over and help our D we will be able to play with anyone. And I know you guys will love this but :tedford

So no mystery there.

I actually did think retrospectively about my use of that "word."

I've been thinking in German lately. "Quivel" is the german bastardation of "quibble", and even then was not properly used.

Almost more annoying is having to watch, for the umpteenth time, JT standing there while the game slips away, passively chewing gum as if nothing has happened. I wish he would show that losing bothers him, that he really wants to win, and motivate his players to feel the same way. They clearly don't.

I'd settle for Tedford not smiling after losing a Big Game...it's yuks all around for coaches and players after an L!! What a disaster.

CalReason;663522 said:

Clearly you can by doing much less than that. Evidence = Zach Maynard at Cal Berkeley.

Funny, I guess. I'm saying that any player that makes it to this level, whatever you think of his recent performance, got there the drive to excel
and an overriding desire to win. That's why I'd err on the side of caution when analyzing sideline laughter following a loss. Unless I was down there with him, of course.
