the "what they supposed to look like on the sidelines" is so over-rated. Nothing is taken out of context more...a quick comment from a teammate about how good the opponent is, and you smile in disbelief?
Character is defined every day in practice, in the locker room, tape study, and study hall. You don't know a player from a 10 second cutaway.

mouseandcat;660752 said:

what does his laughing have anything to do with his thoughts on losing?

You know, all I play anymore is beer league softball. When my team wins, there are smiles in the dugout. When we lose a hard-fought game, there might be some rueful smiles about what could have been if the ball bounced differently a few times. When we completely crap the bed and get blown out, there are no fucking smiles. We feel lousy about our performances and how we let each other down, and we're determined to work harder so we don't embarrass ourselves again.

Yeah, it's a five-second video spot taken at the end of the game, maybe out of context. But I'd rather see a team angry and pissed about its performance, not smiling like they didn't care if they'd won or lost a game that hadn't even counted down to 0:00 yet. I want to see fire and fierce competitiveness. I want to see players who take losing personally. I want to see a team with 85 Sofeles out there; I guarantee you they wouldn't be fucking 7-6, or smiling on the sidelines after crapping the bed on national TV, again.

That was easily one of the most offensive 2-minutes of Cal 2-minute offense I've seen Tedford coach.

All first half the UTx offense couldn't fight their way out of a paper cup. Then Coach T says we were fooled by a "trick play" -- while playing 8 in the box w/ 5 Tx WR's and UTx sends the RB through the middle of the line (fooling #90)...hel-lo-o, get a clue.

So when Bear offense takes over with 2 minutes....whoa!

QbZ runs the ball taking care to NOT go out of bounds...hel-lo-o.

QbZ then has awareness issues, wastes the clock and another TO...hel-lo-o. Coach T smiles.

QbZ then throws into coverage instead of to the open FB...hel-lo-o.

Confusion reins about who knows what, and C Galas resolves it by rolling the snap on the ground (again) so QbZ can lay down to recover and take another nap...hel-lo-o.

Punt.
Half.

I cannot believe that people here actually think Tedford lets Maynard decide whether to huddle or not to huddle.

If you look at our offense, we huddle every play, then we go to the line, then everyone looks over to the sideline as a new play is signaled in, Maynard tries to direct people to the right spot, we rush the snap.... it is what we do.

I don't know why we don't just go no huddle with a standard formation and signal in the play to begin with.
