I work in high value, high stress, time sensitive work environments where collaboration is essential to team performance and effective project success. <br /><br />Not all "poker hands" are dealt evenly but you must do the best with what you have. In an emergency when there is little time to converge on an agreement an autocratic leadership style may be most effective; however, in a highly motivated and aligned team with a homogeneous level of expertise, a more democratic or laissez-faire style may be more effective. <br /><br />There are many ways for leaders to manage teams. In the heat of the moment I tend to break team tension with funny sarcastic remarks which are frequently self-depricating. However I have never been afraid to provide a cutting remark.<br /><br />I could certainly see how smiling during losses could provide effective team management and be considered a form of leadership.

Sometimes he would sit far away from his teammates...now I can only observe behavior but I'm mentioning it because he has conflicting behavior after poor play so I think leadership style really isn't in play...just a thought.
