CMS will be the nicest and classiest stadium in the conference. For what ever reason, some people think all new stadiums need to be flashy, futuristic, airplane hangar meets space ship looking things.

That one Duck poster has it right...dumb a** Husky thinks they are safe or something. The Juan de Fuca plate under the Cascadia Fault line is a "megathrust" fault...the biggest type of earthquake in the world. If that sucker decides to play, they'll be massive devastation from Oregon all the way up to Puget Sound. Not even Tosh will escape in his canoe.....

Sounds like ASU, Udub, UCLA, probalby SC, WSU, etc. all have plans to upgrade their stadium. Let the arms race begin. Now would be a good time for the coaching staff to strike hard on the recruiting front, while they still have a competitive advantage on facilities, particularly the SAHPC.

The new Husky Stadium will be nice too but the design wouldn't work well in Strawberry Canyon with the large overhangs.

I don't get the appeal of Husky Stadium, even if it's getting a makeover.

Sure, they're getting rid of the track, but it's still going to be an erector-set-looking monstrosity, under that awful gray rainy weather (why not put a roof on it?) and covered by those fugly overhangs that look like quotation marks. As in, the Huskies under Sark are trying to build a "top football program".

Even their so-called "amazing" new B-school building is nothing to be jealous of. I've been up there and it's fugly as hell. Looks like the box Haas came in.

I would rather play in Balboa Park with 20 people watching and beat UW than sit in the New Memorial and watch Tedford inexplicably lose to them ever again.

Well hey, I thoroughly enjoy this website and think many of you guys are incredibly funny and clever. I expect you guys to hate on Washington's football team, stadium, and athletics. That is cool, and you guys are usually tasteful anyway!

You are free to call Husky Stadium ugly(I admit the facade of Memorial Stadium is MUCH prettier), however you cannot hate on the University of Washington's campus! I respect that beauty is relative, but almost every ranking places UW's campus at the top.

Fortunately for us, the rankings that Berkeley tops are a bit more pertinent to academia and hold considerably more prestige. Similar to some of those Ivies you mentioned. But yes, UW definitely takes the Gothic cake.

I also don't like buildings with weird spiky things all over the top.

An aside, as much as I think Husky Stadium will still look like a giant erector set, it will get the job done better than almost anywhere in the country... tons of seats between the goal lines, overhangs to keep in the sound (oh wait, they are really to keep you dry), and a lowered field with fans closer to the action.

Obviously overhangs aren't going to fly in California, but hopefully the new pressbox at CMS does a much improved job of reflecting the sound.

Cal's overall campus degisn is severely gimped by some absolutely aweful commie style buildings built in the 50/60's. But the classic core is pretty amazing, with paths oriented to showcase the golden gate... bridge wasn't even there when it was designed.

Well I can't argue with you about the weather, but fortunately I am one of those odd people that actually like the rain.

I would like to see Cal's campus, the views look awesome! Similar to how they tried to highlight the views of Mt. Rainier here at UW. Unfortunately we did not escape the scourge of the 50/60's either. We have some awful buildings too.

Anyway, this is not an architecture board. Though I do want to mention that some of those posters on Dawgman are morons, and I am sorry that you have to experience that! I would gladly flip them the bird :headbang

And the great thing about dawgman is that we really DON'T have to experience it.

In all fairness, the one part of UW's campus we can't hate on is University Way, since it's so similiar to Telegraph Ave.

I honestly didn't love UW's campus. The buildings look nice on the exterior, but inside a lot of them are in pretty poor shape. The campus is also enormous.

Imo, UCLA is by the far the nicest campus in the Pac 12. The only thing that I don't like about UCLA is that there are way too many stairs.

I've been to every school in the conference, except for Utah. Other than ASU, Wazzu, and OSU, the Pac 12 has some really nice campuses.

Ignore the entire dawgman board. It is made up of a lot of uneducated lowlives. My guess is that the majority of the posters on there didn't attend UW. Most dawgman posters are obsessed with Wh*regon.
