Good call. I'm sure had things gone the other way, these spiteful Giants fans would've ridiculed you mercilessly, so take a bow and gloat with glee.

Nah no reason to gloat...as a Cal fan I know it's bad karma except against Furd. Also things can turn around quickly so better to lay low and hope the Dodgers go far in the playoffs.

Two years in a row isn't a myth. 9-17 last June. 10-17 this June.

One more season and it's a pattern. June Gloom.

Two seasons is nothing. Besides, the "June Swoon" thing is supposed to have been a Giants pattern for decades. It hasn't.

This has been the most depressing run of Giants baseball I've seen in a long while.

I blame you, NYCGOBEARS.

EDIT: That said, the "June Swoon" thing is a myth. The Giants have had about as many good Junes as bad ones since moving to San Francisco. People just remember the bad ones more, and it also rhymes.

My bad. It wouldn't be a good summer without a good division race though would it?

I'm curious about something I saw during those last 2 games:

Last night Boche intentionally walked the bases loaded with no outs, then intentionally walked another guy later in the inning but I can't remember the situation exactly. I thought both were crazy but certainly the first walk. Obviously it didn't work out and contributed to a big inning. Then today with first base open he didn't walk the guy who homered last night (forget his name), and he hit a sac fly that started their scoring.

So I'm curious why the inconsistency? Is it just a matter of second guessing the night before or is this typical of Boche? Just seems like both situations he did the opposite of what I'd expect. Was the first guy he walked last night a big rbi guy? I thought for sure he would walk the guy today. Curious.

Last night was mostly a lefty-righty matchup issue. in the 11th, Votto (lefty) led off with a double off Lopez (lefty specialist). So Phillips (righty) was intentionally walked. Then there was the sac bunt, where Lopez had Votto dead to rights at third, but inexplicably went first, where he got Bruce. They then walked Mesoraco (righty) to get the force out back and to avoid the lefty-righty matchup.

I didn't get to see today's game but I assume there was no lefty-righty platoon issue.

Edit: checked the play by play for today. He had second and third with no out and Phillips up again, this time vs Affeldt, another lefty but without as severe splits as Lopez. Phillips hit a sac fly. Not sure why he didn't walk Phillips, with the lefty Bruce on deck.

Ah. Phillips was 1 for 10 vs Affeldt (Bruce 0 for 4). He was probably using that stat and a bit of a hunch.

Thanks for the context poop. Yeah I was yelling for the throw to third last night too. Very odd. Anyways good luck the rest of the way except for that little home and home coming up and of course should it come together to really do this 25th Anniversary right...

How the Dodgers caught the Giants for the NL West lead

Donnie Baseball seems to have figured out this managing thing a bit.

Probably more about healing from injuries (Kershaw, Kemp), and Beckett coming out of nowhere to become a good pitcher again.

I have to say, the one guy I think is most valuable to the Giants is Angel Pagan. I hate when he plays the Dodgers, because he's such a pest. It's not surprising he's been on the DL (along with Belt) while the Giants have been skidding.

And the Giants also lost several key hitters in this stretch (Belt, Pagan, Morse).

Yup, all three are key components. Morse's power seemed to have really helped the batting lineup too.

The Giants were on pace for like 107 wins, which was never realistic. They were playing incredible, and getting a lot of great breaks. They were not that good, and they're not as bad as they've been. The question is how quickly can they pull themselves out of this tailspin - the bullpen seems taxed and the bench is thin right now. The ASB could not come soon enough.

Up for grabs. The team that plays .650 for the 2nd half wins it.

On a 1 hitter from our number 4 or 5 starter no less...

Perhaps the race is over before July 1?
bonsallbear

Yep, one hitter from Dan Haren for seven innings. I don't expect the Dodger pitchers to continue pitching like this for the next three months. And I do expect the Giants to right their ship. Plenty of time left for a good race.

I remain cautiously optimistic about the Dodgers' chances this season, but I know there is plenty of baseball left to play. In other words, don't be this guy!

And the fact Kershaw's scoreless streak doesn't include hapless Giants is more impressive.

Golden opportunity for both the Dodgers and the Angels as the Giants & A's play a 4 game series this week. Giants need to win at least 2 games to maintain their momentum. Next three Dodger starters - Grienke, Rhu, and Kershaw!

Home field for the bay bridge series will be decided next Tuesday. You all are going to be thanking Sandy for moving the Oregon game to Friday in Santa Clara to avoid a sure World Series conflict.

The bad news = Kershaw gave up a run. Scoreless innings over at 41.
The good news = Complete game victory and back into first place.
I think Kershaw > Vogelsang

Well lads, the All-star break is here and your Los Angeles Dodger have caught the SF Giants and lead the NL West by 1 game. But the big news is the once mighty farm system is hitting on all cylinders again. Need something cool to search: Julio Urias 17 y.o. lefty with a 97 mph fastball and a killer curve. They say he's ready now. I like it, all the money you can freakin' spead AND a good farm system.
