The remainder of the games (5) will all be at Oracle too. Hopefully should give the advantage to the Orange & black

Ironically, the Giants have actually beaten the Dodgers more in LA than SF this season.

That is not surprising given that have played 10 games in LA and only 4 in SF.

The splits are very surprising, especially before yesterday's win.

SF at Oracle is 1-5 after yesterday, but 6-2 at Chavez Ravine.

I think you got the splits wrong. SF is 1-3 at China Basin after yesterday, and 6-4 at Chavez Ravine.

You're right. I could've sworn that 2 game series was in SF.

I glad the Giants won 2 of 3, but our run differential took a hit in the series, dropping by two. I confess I don't understand all these modern metrics, but isn't that more important? (We need a strawman emoticon.)

The Dodgers are wasting all their runs, much like the inefficient L.A. transit system.

LOL at the loose lips on the Nationals side trying to extract more from the dodgers now after rumors about scherzer to the padres flew around a few hours earlier.

Dodgers pick up Scherzer and Turner from the Nats and Duffy from KC. They get Kershaw, Seager, and Betts back in a few days. That should swing the momentum back in their favor.

and reliever Tony Watson...which kinda puzzles me given the number of lefty relievers they already have.

You can never be too rich or have too many lefties in the bullpen..

Major league baseball history made tonight!

Arizona rookie pitcher making major league debut tonight. No hits San Diego padres.

Congratulations

Not his major league debut...his first major league start. He had already pitched 3 times in MLB. And it's been done 3 other times, but not since 1953. Still, damn impressive.

Even if the Padres get Tatis back, they are fading. I shouldn't be surprised that a team I follow is fading, after all, I've followed Cal for nearly 40 years, I'm familiar with this story line.

Oh well, I got most of it right. Chalk my impatience up to youthful exuberance. Yes indeed, quite impressive. It's a feel-good story and I'm happy for the young man.

Wouldn't be shocked if this happened....and I wouldn't be a fan of this as a Giants fan.

Typical Dave Roberts. Scherzer is cruising through 6 with 76 pitches. Leading 2-0. Graterol comes in and it's 2-2

Just imagine if the Dodgers had a mediocre manager.

That was strange. I wonder if Scherzer tweaked something? Now bring on some Chanticleers news!

Perfect weekend to watch the two best teams leave it all on the field. And the dodgers will be there, too.

Go Bears, and Giants.

This series is the Dodgers' to lose. They have been hot, have the more loaded roster, and will be starting Price, Urias, and Buehler against three question marks in the Giants' rotation.

If the Giants manage to win this series and go on to win the division I will have a long, hearty laugh.

Seems like it's unbelievably difficult to score a runner from third with less than two outs these days. But we'll take it!

Odd game. What a division race! Reminds me of when the Giants and the Braves were duking it out in (?) 1993.

Reluctant props to the Dodgers for hanging in there and having a tremendous August, as the Padres fell way out of contention.
KenBurnski

Meh. But these matchups have been tremendous and I'm looking forward to the rest of the series and the sprint to the end. And lol at the Padres/Machado.

I hate this rule with a runner starting on second.

Please get rid of it.

Good game by both teams!

My understanding is that the rule of starting a runner on second base is going away next year.

Giants fan here. Surprisingly, I wasn't nervous. But the game shows that even with great pitching you cannot let the Dodgers hang around as they have too many good players and eventually something will happen. In spite of the win the Giants are in a big funk offensively, and Posey in particular is really struggling. He's got to be having a problem with his confidence. Slumps are more mental than physical, usually.
philbert
How long do you want to ignore this user?
I hope they keep that rule. I hate games that drag on and on when you have BART to catch. Just eliminate it during the playoffs. Don't waste bullpen arms for 18 inning games during the regular season.
