Goldman's family owned a large insurance brokerage that was sold a bit ago and they have been funding the Goldman foundation for years. I think they (his parents) started the brokerage in the 40s and sold it in the 90s. The Goldman foundation has been going since 1951, and is closing this year. They have given away over 700 million. Nice to see the Bears get a chunk of their last year payouts.

IIRC, their twin sons (can't remember their names) went to Cal and they are related to the Haas'. Fantastic news.

Douglas Goldman is the son of Levi Strauss heirs Richard & Rhoda Goldman. Rhoda was the daughter of Walter Haas and great-grandneice of Levi Strauss, who founded the clothing company that bears his name.

For $10mm, perhaps one year of California Goldman Bears is in order.
