Oct. 6th, UCLA at California, 12pm, Fox

Oct 20th, Stanford at California, 12pm, Fox

Nov 10th, Oregon at California, 12pm, Fox

Seems like Fox really likes the new stadium and also wants to party it up in SF at night. (It's going to be very awkward when ESPN gameday comes to town for 10-0 Oregon visiting 10-0 Cal on November 10th).

This would also mean the only home game left for pickup is ASU.

*though the PDF I saw has 'subject to change', which means of course if Cal starts sucking, who knows when we'll play.

Beyond awful for us but pretty much uniformly terrible for the Pac-12. Six Pac-12 / Big-12 double headers, Big-12 gets four of the six 4pm "prime time" slots. The Apple Cup is a 12:30 start the day after Thanksgiving. In Pullman. Pac-12 gets a weekday championship game at 5pm again. Oregon couldn't sell out a game in that time slot. Imagine trying to get to the Coliseum, Memorial or the Rose Bowl on a Friday afternoon.

For us Bears out here on the East Coast it's pretty good news. For you back home, it sucks.

For obvious reasons, many won't like it..But especially for homecoming vs Ucla..Even though its weeklong, there are alot of alums who come in on gameday and will now have to scurry/cram things in before kickoff. Cal students will also scowl since they sleep in so late and the stadium noise may suffer due to lack of refreshments for this vocal group! I hope the starting times change.

Ha! Um, no. I admit to being competitive watching my son's games, but I resist the urge to yell at the coaches or refs. I don't want to be "that guy".

I got lucky last year. There were only a couple of conflicts last season. This season will be much tougher to make both soccer and Cal football games.

Why is everybody so glum? Noon (previously 12:30pm) kickoffs is when college football is supposed to be played. Most of us have been going to midday games for the past few decades (until the TV explosion of a few years ago).

I get the feeling that everyone on this board would be complaining if there were no Noon kickoffs this year. You can't have it both ways.

Rejoice for the Sunshine- Memorial will look stunning bathed in natural sunlight.

1230 is a lot better than noon in terms of sleep and commute

Good to see we'll be making use of our new lights. /s.

I also like noon games but would like to see some later games sprinkled in. For those who don't live in the east bay, it can be a challenge to get there on time, especially with our lack of parking.

I don't hate noon games, but I really hope we get a 5 pm game in there somewhere, either Furd or UO. Nothing quite matches the energy of the night time games, and I think our team will need that extra home field advantage against those 2 teams. I assume as the season plays out and teams win/lose, the scheduling will change to have the favorable matchups take up that prime slot.

Yes, I prefer to drink (and eat) BEFORE the games. Now to make kick off, you are eating Top Dog and drinking beer around 10 AM? 11 at the latest?

Up until this year, I'd hate it. However, my kids are grown up, I am divorced and I live in Berkeley next to the campus. I am going to have a great time no matter what! Looking forward to the post game celebrating!

3pm start times are the best.

But, we will make due.

Until we get better, we won't be picked for later time slots.

I'm hoping the CAL v UCS game is like at 3:30pm.

12:30 was great when we lived in Alameda.
12 noon when we live in Sparks Nv means I have to get the wife up at oh dark thirty. That is not a fun chore.

Might be a lt more ping pong runs this year...

What Davidson says. We are on TV every week. That's a benefit of having the conference deal and a do-something commissioner like Scott. Once the team can play and win some big stage games, the time slots will change. Just not tihs year.

Apologies in advance for my confusion, but when it says Fox, I'm assuming simply the Fox network and not Fox Sports Net, correct?

It's just too early. I drive in from the Sacramento area and would like to catch the band at Sproul and then grab a easy lunch before roaming up the stadium. Can't do that with a 12:00 start. The more TV gets involved, the less enjoyable the experience is becoming.

I think it's more than place holders, but we'll see. If Cal loses a lot, I think we could be bumped down the pecking order? Interesting that all the post midnight post were wanting of late kickoffs and the early monring ones are more in favor of noon kicks... go figure! Noon is not my preference, but if they were rock solid locked in times at least we could plan our days out... of course, it appears to be likely time, but not guaranteed.

Well get used to the Friday night CCG. It's contractual through 2023 I believe. I kind of liked it last year - if it were a Saturday game I would not even have watched. UCLA at 6-6? haha, I can't blame the game time for the non-sell out at Oregon. They were probably charging 'championship' game prices for a garbage game.

As for the Fox games, Pac 12 gets 11, Big 12 gets 8. It's national TV, non regional ABC. It's not a bad deal. Plus games between Texas, OU, West Virginia are premium draws, so I'd expect they would be primetime over any P12 game other than Oregon v USC. I'm thinking maybe the teams are locked in, but the Big 12/ Pac 12 could flip times later in the year based on results. For instance Cal is not expected to be in the P12 North title race. But if Oregon @ Cal is deemed to be a better game than Baylor @ Oklahoma, maybe Fox switches them. It's the first year of the contract, so we don't really know how it will all work... this schedule was leaked by mistake apparently, so it wasn't supposed to be out there so soon.

I agree with the 3pm start. Local time that is when a lot of the big east coast games start (of course that's noon pacific time). I know people see noon as traditional, and it is somewhat, but a lot of that is because there were no lights at Memorial, and because Cal wasn't good enough to get on TV at night (who would pay for lights). 3pm is not a bad time for getting to the game (especially for a lunch or beers or tailgate), not a bad tine leaving either.

However, I don't see noon starts as being a result of Cal not being good enough. Fox essentially has first choice on most weekends (They split the first pick with ESPN, I believe ESPN uses up some of those on the thursday games and then they have Az @ Ore and ND @ USC). Pac 12 Network games and the ESPN/ESPN2 night game are below the Fox game on the totem pole, so if we bomb, we may get bumped out of the Fox game and onto a lesser slot.

Seriously. People find a reason to complain about EVERYTHING. As someone who is stuck with AT&T Uverse and don't have access to the Pac-12 Network, my initial reaction to this thread was "AWESOME"! I get guaranteed access to 3 more games. I guess I'm just more of a glass half full kind of guy.

1:30-2 pm would be best. Enough time to lollygag around in the morning and get out late enough to grab an early dinner in Berkeley

This is Kid2th's first year with East Bay United Soccer.
Apparently, I am required to attend a 2 hour mandatory meeting on how to behave.

This is why it's great for me. But I do confess that having a 5pm game atmosphere like we had for Tennessee 2007 would be ideal.

Well, you know what they say about soccer and rugby, don't you?

Soccer is a gentlemen's sport played by hooligans. Rugby is a hooligan's sport played by gentlemen.

BART starts running from the City at 6:00 am on Saturdays. More than enough time to grab breakfast in Berkeley, hit Henry's (and multiple other establishments) for refreshments, grab a dog at Top Dog, stop by a buddy's tailgate on campus, and make the walk up the steps past the Campanile to the stadium for the noon start. Can't wait.

It's great, actually.

-East Coast recruits will not only be watching (along with all the Press Hacks), they will be seeing all that sunshine in November as well.

- hard on visiting teams (remember Maryland '08), even from our time zone. Less time to acclimate.

- Alums from out of town can make evening flights. (literally fly in for game)

Not to mention, last time I checked, bars in the state of California start serving at 6am.

Go Bears

I like your first two points, thanks SuperEQ. But the 3rd item.. not so much.

Day fliers have worse inbound logistics for early kickoffs.

Then outbound, schucks, three OT's for instance could eat up too much cushion getting back to (and thru) the airport in time.

What, in OT, Bears gonna leave early??

#Gameday flying is too dangerous.

whispered ps: just between us, i don't get the gameday binge drinking attraction. what's the point of winning if we can't recall stuff the next day? better to hold off on the lost-the-game remedies till we're safely home, umm, says the designated driver.
