Thanks Colorado. I was beginning to think that I was gonna have to scan in old programs or schedules to make the point. I don't know why people just assume that how it was when they were in school a few years back is how its been for even the last 50 years- let alone 90 or something.
As I said elsewhere in this thread, when I began following the bears in the late 60s, game time was 1:30. I hated it when it went to 1:00, and then to 12:30. Too darn early- no time to savor all the game day atmosphere, and especially hard on the tailgating. Those 2:00 and 2:30 kickoffs -in the days when passing was rare, and games went quicker because of fewer clock stops- would have been even better. Tailgating as a brunch activity, and getting done in time for dinner, were what college football *was* in the days before lighted stadiums and TV contracts.
