Jeff Tedford is Fresno State's Pat Hill

Pat Hill never won an outright WAC Championship. He did play "anyone, anywhere," but always (until the end), won about 8 and lost about four. His offense was predictable. His rival, Boise St, crushed his teams--like 51-7 at home. He went 5-7 three seasons ago, went 7-5 two years ago, and then went 3-9 last year and was out. Tedford has followed the same trajectory. His unwillingness to change his strategy is made of the same stubbornness Hill had. Our board contains so many of the same comments, almost word for word. Hill was fired because fans stayed away, and for no other reason. They didn't even sell out Boise or Ole Miss last year. If the stadium is full, or close, there will be no change. Go to Big Game. That's not about Tedford. That's about all Cal Bears. Then, sit at home. Tedford will then be asked to leave.

I think that the ultimate destination for Jeff Tedford will be FresNose State. The current coach will flounder, JT will be gone from here and they will turn to Jeff as their coach.

Tedford will have sold his mansion by then and will be able to buy the same house down there for about $350K and will be seen as the savior.

I'd gladly take Tim DeRuyter as our DC.

Our coach and team are such a mess the score will be worse--even though we are at home in our terrific remodel. Cal fans cannot legitimately look down on ANY team this year.

Jeez. That's a lot of similarities. Hill also had a long tenure, 15 years.

Did these two men accidentally desecrate an Egyptian tomb, unleashing the same heinous curse on them both?

Tedford has had better talent than Hill ever did.

Haha sign me up for the curse where I am a multimillionaire by the end of it. Maybe both our schools are built on ancient burial grounds.

That is a lot of similarities, but I just can't stop going to games and cheering for the team and buying gear. Part of that is the sunk cost of my season tickets, but the bigger part is that I do love Cal and appreciate what the student athletes do, even if their coaching is letting them down.

I think JT parallels Ben Braun much more. Comes in with a splash, the University loves him, gets big contract, new facilities, great recruits but doesn't reach potential. At ten year mark, the torches and pitchforks come out.

DeRuyter (deRooter) just engineered (with help fr Derek Carr...yep, Davey's lil brother) a big win over a vastly-improved San Diego State side. The offense is crackling and exciting to watch. Passing, running, all the things missing from Cal FB. Score points in bunches. Etc.
Not that I root much for my alma mater, but it would be Very Nice if the new Coach stuck around for awhile and did NOT take a position at, like......oh........say......Berkeley. If he does well in the MWC, he will immediately be a Wanted Man. And Tedford just COULD end up back at FSU re-invigorating His and Pat Hill's '90s style pro-set offense (yawn).
And That's the Way it Is, Folks.
