Horrible! Absolutely Horrible! People should be fired and blackballed for this. And what is up with the baby blue?!?! A student contest would have netted MUCH better results.

I don't like it. Frankly, I don't get it. Just my humble opinion, but it is kinda too simple and generic. I love the old logo, and always will. Having said that, Go Bears!

Awful! This is a university, not some clever new age aromatherapy startup. Having a traditional-looking logo reinforces the image of a hallowed institution with a long, venerable history--one of the most powerful selling points a great school like Cal has. You can be sure that Harvard, Yale, etc. wouldn't even think of dreaming up some new logo like this that will inevitably look even more stupid--and dated--a few years from now!

I get the need to modernize and simplify--the two often go hand in hand--your logo like Starbucks did last year. But this is just atrocious.

My friend was the chief designer. I told him a few days ago that he needs to fix the color. He disagrees. He added that the traditional blue and gold is one of many options in the official color palette. However, I checked out the color options, and it seems to me that the darker blue option is still a tad bit too light.

I like the logo. I just don't like the color. I think tradition should mean something in college marketing. And maintaining the regal Berkeley blue is the best way to leverage that tradition.

Part of my job is branding and marketing within the fashion industry. I can tell you that the new logo would never be allowed to get past the chicken scratch rendering stage with me.
