He re-injured it in January during pre-combine workouts.

He said. Like I said, who knows?......

I wish the best for him and I hope he made all the right decisions.

He's got Jerry Rice speed and Jerry Rice moves.

But does he have Jerry Rice's work ethic and drive to excel?

I'm wondering why last fall's knee injury is still lingering. Was the treatment and followup lacking? How independent was KA from Cal after his injury? His recovery seems a bit out of the norm, but then who would know due to the lack of info?

I think he's fine. I just think people expected him to be faster considering his dominating performance in college. He's just slow on the straight away. I think once he's been in the NFL for a couple NFL offseasons at state of the Art sports training facilities, his speed will get better, similar to Jerry Rice.

So wait. Just to be clear, are you saying that he lied about the second (re)injury? You do realize that it would be career suicide if that were to be true and he was "caught" in such a lie, correct? Not to mention the fact that such a rouse would require well respected professionals, including Dr. James Andrews, to act incredibly unethically and lie about the diagnosis to his own professional detriment. Teams do a ton of background. Just because you and I haven't seen the MRI images doesn't mean that teams and their own medical staff haven't reviewed them. If he were lying about the injury - or being coy, or whatever it is that you insinuated, it would destroy his credibility and lessen his draft stock significantly. So please enlighten us as to what you were really saying with your cryptic post.

Here's hoping he drops just enough for the Niners to be able to snatch him up. I can dream, can't I?

It seems to me that KA was never as fast as he was his freshman year. Last year, before the injury, KA was caught from behind at least once during a breakaway. KA did have a basketball related injury prior to that as well. Maybe that has taken the edge of his speed.

Speed does matter when it comes to "elite" status. But, for KA to drop to round #2, someone else would have to be pushing to take his spot as there will probably still be 4 WRs taken in the 1st round (Pittsburgh, St. Louis, Minnesota and at least 1 of the following- GB, Houston and Balt.)

Patterson
Austin
Hopkins
Woods or Allen, who's better even now?

Allen will probably end up improving on his speed once fully rested and I'm betting that many NFL scouts are willing to roll the dice on that given Allen's upside.

Allen is definitely not a can't miss 1st rounder any more. But if your team is drafting at the bottom of the round-playoff teams like GB, Houston, and Balt.- you might find that KA is just the difference maker you need to get you to the big dance next year.

In any worst case scenario, Allen will not fall beyond the Bills 2nd pick early in round 2.

I'll be estatic if the 9ers pick him up second round, but would also be pretty cool if GB grabs him at the end of the 1st... Rodgers to Allen

FWIW I have KA going to either Carolina, Minnesota or St. Louis in RD#1. If he drops below Robert Woods and or Justin Hunter then he will be available for SF at both #31 and #34. SF is going to take a safety with one of those picks, unless they sign Woodson. I suspect the other pick will go to a DT. I have not seen a mock draft where SF picked a WR. I have them taking Oregon St. WR Marcus Wheaton or Steadman Bailey with their 2nd pick of RD#3.

Mock drafts are very hard to do accurately. One problem is that you never know if a team will draft for value or need. If both exist it is easy, until you factor in free agent signings which are still occuring. WR Josh Cribbs has not signed, for example. If he signs with the Bills, then there is less WR need in round 1 and less chance KA is drafted in round 1.

So do we know if Maynard was throwing to KA at his pro day? And more importantly, was Tedford, he of QB guru fame, in attendance?

Different guy here. I did not watch the video, but I trust your track expertise, Vandalus. Earlier, you alluded to KA not seeming at his best in the video, am I correct? And thus, you would say that, if he was 100%, he would almost certainly run significantly faster? Would you guess a 4.55 0r 4.60?

(Mistake for him to run in that condition, wouldn't you say?)
